Nice little spot 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 27, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice place to go if you forget your hiking shoes on the way to Sycamore. Great place to work on drives, midrange and putts. Nice place to go if introducing someone to this fine game.

Cons:

A little crowded with non players
All flat- no terrain
Not to challenging if you are experienced (good enough for me!)

Other Thoughts:

Great neighborhood spot, especially if you want to quickly knock out 9 holes or work on your shots.

Sequoia Park Disc Golf Course Gets Consistent Play! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 21, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Say what you want about these easy little 9 hole park courses but they usually seem to have players. I think there are a lot more very casual disc golfers than serious players. That is why I'm always glad to award these 9 hole courses an average score of 2.5.

Sequoia Park is typical city park that happens to border on school. Sequoia is flat with scattered trees, walking sidewalks, a playground and picnic shelter. The course starts in one corner and loops around at the finish. The baskets are faded Discatchers with the yellow band and numbers. The tee pads come in various shapes and sizes, sometimes using the available sidewalk. Some tees are marked by two of the ever popular yellow campground flexible (indestructible) signs. I'm not exactly sure why they need a yellow tee on both sides of a concrete pad? Wouldn't one be sufficient? There are some decent distances here ranging up 400'.

# 3 tees from right next to this lovely rock park sign which also happens to make a comfortable bench. Double duty.

Cons:

Many of the holes are very similar.

A few of the concrete tee pads are 3-4 inches above the grass making it difficult to get a decent run up. One I remember could pretty easily be filled around it with some dirt.

Recreational golf.

Flat.

Inconsistent tee signs with a couple missing. Only one is needed per hole. Having two is kind of unattractive and overkill.

Other Thoughts:

Nothing sexy about this course, just a solid recreational course. Instead of complaining about what it isn't.....long, challenging, hilly....just embrace it for what it is and who it serves. If Sequoia wasn't here to satisfy these player's disc golf addiction, some of them might be junking up your favorite course.

Pros:

Flat, good for putting practice as the course is probably going to have pedestrians all over it. Quiet place. Perfect to start a child on or if you live nearby it would be great to have access to all the time. Honestly this is a great park just to expose more people to disc golf, then they'll realize there are some awesome courses close-by (looking at you Sequoia, just down the road, Rabbit Flats T.O., and Veterans Park Sylmar.) Good luck losing your disc here *it's close to impossible.

Cons:

Small, based around a jogging path and as a neighborhood park you should definitely be respectful and wait until it's clear. Hard to find starting positions on a number of holes, not well delineated. Mandatories also not clearly marked so we reinforced what we thought before we threw.

Other Thoughts:

I would definitely rather this place exist than not.
