Good course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Some long holes and some not so long. This course plays on a typical large open park area with pockets of trees placed strategically. This is a fairly open fairway course. Hole #2 is challenging due to the basket placement behind/between a pond and a marshy area. It also plays downhill, lay up or gamble throwing a disc into the pond.

Cons:

The signage on this course is lacking, really no pictures of the holes, just distance. It is a long walk, not much elevation change.

Other Thoughts:

Not a very exciting course.

Best Place I've Ever Given Blood! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 4, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is in a large multi use park that is very busy, but there is ample parking in a few gravel lots and the course rarely goes too close to any of the other fields.

Has some challenging shots the first 8 that play fairly open and long but with tree islands in okay fairways that make you pull into your bag of tricks.

9-17 are more wooded but largely less technical, and play along a really pretty bog. If it were in the south I would be concerned about snakes and gators(none of those in MI) and the guy I played with said they didn't get many snakes there.

I used my regular flick drives a lot as well as some sky Tommy's and some slow fade approach thumbers as well.

Number 2 is the star of the course it's a 350 or so shot downhill across a (today quite flooded) pond. I poet to lay up on the lip and get the safe par instead of trying to get a birdie and losing the only driver I brought on this trip.

Number 18 is pretty cool too. Long 450 or so shot that playes through a valley between the baseball field and a thicket. It ends up right by the lip of the pond.

Teepads are all textured concrete and pretty nice, baskets were almost all in good shape.

Cons:

Biggest one; Mosquitoes, mosquitoes and more mosquitoes! Didn't really notice it until number 8 but was getting either bitten or buzzing in my ears from there on.

Other than the throngs of tiny vampires the biggest issue was the lack of signage. No marker for where to start, no map, no direction by the teepads.

There were arrows by the baskets pointing in the direction of the next pad, but it wasn't always that helpful when there were multiple pads in that direction.

Honestly someone go out there with a can of paint and put the numbers on the teepads. It's mostly very well maintained otherwise so I can't imagine the club or park guys that maintain it would object.

Other Thoughts:

I has a good time but some signs and Vietnam army issue bug spray would make this a solid 3.5 course.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice park, Well maintained for the most part with a wonderful variety of holes that make for a challenge. Large cement tee pads which are definitely a plus and beautiful new baskets. many elevation change shots which add to the course. Hole 18 especially, shooting downhill to the tee next to a water hazard, that was great fun. the layout was fun, shooting through forest into the open, many doglegs that added a challenge.

Cons:

NO SIGNAGE. this was a terrible disappointment for my first time at this course. I was unable to find the first hole and the tee to the second so I had to start at #3. Lack of signage made it very difficult to find the right hole as many baskets were in close proximity to one another or hidden from view. I was unable to play 15,16, 17 because the path to them was threw a swamp with heavy foliage on either side and you have to cross on a narrow floating bridge. I got about 75' in and had to turn around because I was calf high in muddy swamp water and part of the bridge was missing so I could go no further. There are signs in the ground at each basket that point you to the next tee though, but sometimes those could be misleading because there were two right next to each other.

Other Thoughts:

I rate courses not simply on the obvious conditions but also on how much fun it was. missing 5 holes because there was no signage or because certain holes could not be reached because of bridge issues this course was not fun. although this course had many things I look for in a great course they seem to have overlooked some very basic things. If you are going to spend the money to get new baskets and maintain a beautiful park, get some signs. Finally I believe the course map on this site is old and some of the holes have been changed.

Better if it was maintained 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 10, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good variation. Wooded and open, elevation changes, holes that curve left and right, short and long holes.
Nice use of bushes and obstacles make this course more challenging than others around it.
Arrows to next tee pad.

Cons:

Kinda confusing layout if it's your first time since there is no 1st hole right now. Gets really buggy in the back of the course. Lots of trash and graffiti.
The bridge between 14 and 15 is now underwater and you must walk all the way around, walk up the fairway on and use the path on the left to play 15.

Other Thoughts:

Would be nice if there was more maintenance done. There is too much trash and graffiti for my liking and walking around the swamp bridge is a far walk.
I played with old locals of this course and the first few years it was a beautiful course and the lake was much smaller. Sad to see a good course get let go by poor maintenance.

Seymour Lake course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 20, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

I liked that they had a bit of everything throughout the course! Nice bright markers on the baskets.

Cons:

Not very easy to navigate through and the course was under construction. Do not go over the long bridge through the swap!!!!

Other Thoughts:

It seemed to be windy but it was an odd day!

Decent 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 22, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Some variety in holes. A few wooded holes. Good upkeep. A lot of good driving holes

Cons:

No maps or signs make it extremely difficult to follow the course. I had to walk around to find the right pin for a lot of the holes. Not a lot of technical holes.

Other Thoughts:

Overall it's a pretty decent course. I'd rate it a little higher if they had some sort of map or signs.
