Big Design Flaws = Not Much Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 12, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nicely mowed/maintained grounds

Mach II's are okay targets

Tee's were marked with one pink flag

Some elevation in play

Downloadable map

Cons:

Horrible layout - Start on one side of the school and finish on the other after circling the huge parking lot, much more walking between holes than playing the actual holes

One basket (5) was inches from a chain link fence

Majority of tees were natural grass

No permanent tee markers

Long holes for a 9 hole school course - average is over 300' even including one that is around 130' in the mix

Holes are mostly open

Other Thoughts:

Worst flow of any course I've played

Needs a major redesign - If it was up to me, I would put 9 around 200' holes in the area 1,7,8,9, 6's basket, and 5's tee are currently

1,2,&3 are the best holes in the current layout, but the flow to the rest of the course is so bad that 2&3 should be abandoned in any redesign

The other 2 courses in town are far more enjoyable than this one, play there unless you need the notch on your bagger belt

Needs marking 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Most of the grounds are well maintained and decent baskets.

Cons:

No tees, no markings on baskets for hole #, no flow to course design, at least couldn't make any not knowing how to play it.

Other Thoughts:

On top of that, construction on school at the moment makes it even harder to access other side of campus. That will change when all done, but still very broken up design.

I Dislike Reviewing School Courses 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 25, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice baskets
+School grounds are well maintained, free of garbage, mowed, etc.
+Won't lose a disc here unless you have a super bad shot or are trying to lose one.
+Views of the Big Horn Mountains
+The layout could be somewhat interesting if you knew where to tee off from.
+Might get kids into the sport

Cons:

This course has all the typical character flaws that many school courses have:
-No defined tees, this shouldn't be this hard. At least a piece of wood in the ground or a mark on the sidewalk would make a world of difference.
-No signage.
-Poor flow, this course is crammed into various pieces of land spread out throughout the school grounds and it is hard to find the next basket, especially since the tees are not marked.
-Course throws somewhat close to sidewalks, roads, buildings, athletic fields, etc
-Probably shouldn't play during school hours
-The course is really open and pretty flat. Not a lot of hole to hole variation.

Other Thoughts:

-I know schools probably get grants or have budgets to use up so they buy baskets and randomly place them around campus but why can't any of them ever at least put tees or signage in. It is the same thing over and over. Some of the courses would be pretty fun if there was a little more time and effort put in.
-I wouldn't bother stopping here unless you are a course bagger. This is the worst of all the courses in the area and is pretty much unplayable unless you are a local, have a map, or want to spend too long wandering around the school grounds looking for the next basket.

Why doesnt Sheridan have tee boxes on their courses? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Baskets with Double Chains
Well Groomed Fairways

Cons:

No tee pads
impossible to find designated tee spots
you play a hole or two, and then you have to walk halfway across campus to continue playing (impossible without a map or local)

Other Thoughts:

This course could be decent if there were tee signs and or designated areas. Map shows location of holes and approximate tee areas. I think this course would get played more if it had some sort of tee box on each hole, and signs pointing to the next tee box on holes you have to walk a little bit to get to it.
