Lots of potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The variety of shots types is excellent; uphill tunnel shoes, downhill wide open bombs, tight tunnels through the woods, naturally forced shots over the top, etc. Large tee pads are also a plus.

Cons:

Signage is extremely minimal. No indications of where the next hole is. Course is essentially unmaintained, so fairways are essentially short wild grass mixed with weeds and occasional cacti (yes, there really are cacti). Nearly impossible to find your way through the course on your own for the first time and find all of the hole options. Two baskets on most of the holes, which sounds nice, but not when they're 30 feet apart and don't change the way the hole is played.

Other Thoughts:

If they reduced to 1 based per hole, improved signage with a metal sign on each hole with accurate distances and pars, make it clear where the next hole is, and generally cleaned up the park this would be a phenomenal course. That being said, it is still a good course, but nothing like it could be with some elbow grease.

new layout great, needs tweaks 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 8, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Have played this twice, a year ago and a week ago (and hopefully later today). The layout has changed and improved from a year ago, the tees were updated to from rubber matts to cement and now has better marking of the tee, the hole and where the next tee is. Nice mix of open, woods short and long.

Cons:

the baskets are still identified with the original hole numbers, which makes it harder to navigate the first time. On one or two holes, was not sure the proper basket, and just sort of guessed.

Other Thoughts:

Long course, so takes some time to play (I'm an old guy with out much distance). Last played on a sunday morning and saw maybe four other groups playing. Plenty of parking. UPDATE: Played this twice in the last few days, between Friday and Sunday they moved four baskets, but I had no clue of that until later. Found three of the four that moved, but only after 'finishing' play at the previous spot. Be nice if hole diagrams indicated locations of alternate basketballs, and some indication at the first tee that alternative basket locations are in effect.

Lots of Potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 12, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Interesting terrain and usage of available property, including forest, sand dunes, open grasslands, large old trees, and one small nasty looking pond (which comes into play on a few holes). Good creative hole placement which gives plenty of opportunities for using every shot in your arsenal, left and right handed holes in fair proportions, several holes that reward precision and several holes with opportunities to 'let it fly' and multiple risk/reward choices throughout.

Cons:

Rubber tee pads presently, that, when mixed with the sandy terrain make for very slippery footing. Very confusing layout at times, much better signage and/or maps would be nice. Course is not designed well for playing 9 or 18, as the front nine leaves you quite a distance from the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

Scenic, and well worth a return trip. Nice to see a disc course in this under-utilized corner of Michigan. Portapotty at the first hole. Wear good shoes, because there are prickly pear cactus all over the place on this course, and the 'rough' on the wooded holes is brutal.
