A long slog back to the parking lot 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 14, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The first two holes are long, wooded downhill throws. Quite fun and challenging.

Low posts marking all but one of the tees. Tee post markers list hole distance.

Beautiful views of Hagerstown Valley and Boonsboro from the power line cut near hole 2's tee.

Coffee, snacks, and restrooms near the parking lot. Friendly folks on site. I had the course to myself on a warm Saturday in April.

Cons:

Baskets were down on holes 5 and 8. Looks like the pole rusted through near the base and the baskets fell over. I nearly "aced" hole 5 with the basket down - I wonder what the official ruling would be on that lol.

Holes 3 through 9 are 300' or less and mostly wide open. Pretty humdrum despite some elevation change, and quite a downgrade after the first two holes.

Somewhat lumpy natural (grass) tees.

The walk from hole 9 back to the parking lot is very long and very uphill. A long slog up a mountain is not a great way to end the round.

Other Thoughts:

I would probably rate this course 1.5 or 2.0 if all the baskets were standing up.

This property has some beautiful (but sadly unused) land for disc golf. I would love to see a loop of holes that included the pine forest beside holes 1 and 2, and the other forested land on site. Even a short 9-hole loop could be extremely nice.

After playing hole 2, the next tee is across the road and right (not left as the 2017 course map linked on DGCR shows). Across the road and left is a private driveway.

South Mountain Creamery is 10 minutes away if you have a taste for local ice cream after your round. Or hike a section of the nearby Appalachian Trail.
