Reviewed: Played on:Dec 20, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Private 9 hole course that sits atop scenic and historic South Mountain. There are tee signs except for hole 7. Holes 1 and 2 play downhill with some heavy woods. OK course for beginners.

There are available restrooms, rental discs, and course map in main office.

Cons:

Single natural tees and Instep baskets. Hole 7 has no tee sign. Map shows the tee parallel to the end zone. The last 7 holes are your typical wide open practice field holes with some elevation. The course ends at the opposite side of the camp and downhill so it doesn't loop back to parking lot. You get to backtrack up the hill to the parking across most of the course.

As with most private camp courses, you will need to check ahead and check in before playing.

Other Thoughts:

I entered the camp from Frostown Rd, so I never saw the baskets coming in, but I got so excited driving up the mountain to the Skycroft course as it reminded of driving to the courses in Paw Paw, WV, but that is where the comparison ends at least as far as the course goes. Well, hole 1 was a nice downhill tunnel and hole 2 did remind me some of the gauntlet on Woodshed. The other 7 holes are just playing around the ball fields and wide open, yawn.

The camp has over 350 acres of scenic mountain top property, so there is potential for an epic course with a redesign or addition and some work. Likely just a pipe dream of mine.
