MN Historical Course 2+ years drive by

Other Thoughts:

"Slats" is one of the first courses in MN. It was designed and installed in 1978 or '79 by Steady Ed Headrick #001 himself. Our early MST events always included Slats and it saw some great tournaments back in the day. It was re-designed in 1996.

Best in Rochester, which doesn't say much 2+ years drive by

Pros:

I would say that this is the best course in Rochester, but that is really not saying much. I give it the edge over East Park because of the use of the river, which adds a small element of danger to the otherwise tame and open park.

It does have concrete tee pads and some scattered benches and trash cans.

Cons:

It is only 9 holes, though I don't think any more could fit in this small park.

It's in a lower-income area, but in Rochester that's not such a big deal.

Signs aren't very informative, and there is a lot of goose poop.

Other Thoughts:

If you're willing to drive 20 minutes or so, Bear Cave Park in Stewartville is much better than anything else in the area.

Rochester desperately needs a well-designed 18 hole course. I believe there is a big opportunity for even a pay-to-play course in the area.
