Nice Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 23, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Lots of trees to navigate around, but not a wooded course.

A creek runs through the middle of course making it a challenge to go out of bounds, but easy enough to retrieve disc if it were to go in.

Tee's are nice and clean about 4x8. The play is away from pedestrians so very little worry for safety.

The flow of the course is excellent with only a couple questions where to go next. When done with 13 there are two visible Tee's on either side and the left one would the correct one.

18 ends where hole 1 begins. I like this so is easy to get back to parking lot with no long walks.

It's a park with lots to do, baseball diamonds, tennis court, pickle ball court, playground, picnic tables, and bathrooms. Bathrooms are open in summer months. I can see bringing the entire family and letting them play in the park while I get round in. :)

Chain Star baskets are really nice to catch disc.

Course is mowed every week.

Cons:

Tee's could be a little longer, but not an issue to set up behind the pads and run up.

Pretty flat over all, maybe three holes with some elevation.

In the summer the foliage get's pretty thick, so stay out of the thick.

17 hole is pretty cool, down hill, over a creek, avoid trees, but the walk to get to the basket is a bit odd, but no other way to do it.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a gem for my average game. Most of the holes average 250 - 300 ft. There are a couple short holes, but they have some challenge to them making you shape shots. The couple long holes require just a little finesse so you can't bomb it out there.

This course is going to be very challenging for rec players, but easy for advanced players. The course is getting used and not hard to find someone to play a round with. I've stepped in with many people from all over Iowa and played a friendly round.

Good Course in small town Iowa 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 31, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice concrete tees. Good signage at each hole with diagrams of trees and projected flight. Park was quiet with only a couple of other groups playing. Very little elevation change which is good for rec players. A couple of more challenging holes with a stream come into play on 15, 16 and 17.

Cons:

Course layout is a little confusing. I was glad I snapped a picture of the map at the first tee. Tee pads are a little small for those who like a running start. All holes were marked Par 3, which was a little long on some holes for a novice like me. Lack of elevation change would bore more expert players. Blind tee shot over the stream for #17 is interesting, but confusing for someone new to the course.

Other Thoughts:

Nice course in small town Iowa. I enjoyed my round and would play again. Might even take some more chances on the holes where the stream comes into play (15,16, and 17)
