I Once Was Lost, But Now I’m Found 2+ years

Pros:
(1.711 Rating) A friendly school grounds course with the basics of the game
- ACEABILITY - I was very tempted to play the short layout. Six shots under 200 feet that will have skilled players dusting off their tee box putters and firing several shots.
- CHAINS - Average baskets, MachVs to be precise. But considering it's a grade school course, I was pleasantly surprised to even get this quality brand.
- FRONT TEES - I was surprised to find 4 foot by 7 foot concrete tees. Probably adequately sized for younger kids.
- MAINTENANCE - The grounds were being touched up as I arrived. Mowed grass, the heavily wooded areas on the layout itself had no overgrowth and there were only a few smaller branches down on the layout.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - Despite mostly moderately wooded holes, the course will be very kind to newer players and juniors due to the maintenance comments listed above. Losing a disc would be limited to forgetting it or throwing high in a tree. No water hazards and the layout is short enough on many holes that even some first timers could get a look at a birdie.
- QUICK PLAY - I had no map and I photographed the course from both tees and still got out in 30 minutes (my phone died a week later so I only uploaded 1 photo, my apologies). A skilled player throwing the short layout could have this wrapped up in twenty minutes. A group of four should be done in 45 minutes.
- GROW THE SPORT - Not sure if the school kids are playing this course or not, but it's definitely awesome that the possibility is there. I wish I had this at my grade school.

Cons:
The typical inadequacies of the small schoolyard 9 hole course.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - Despite the two tee set-up, the difficulty for the long tees is at best lower Recreational level. Other than hole (9), the challenge is completely accuracy based. So perhaps a higher rated bomber will struggle a bit. Myself as intermediate level player, I think I would average 2 or 3 down from the back tees.
- BACK TEES - The back tees are defined only by a numbered stake. Several of the grassy areas next to these stakes have protruding roots. I was very tempted to throw the short tees on many holes as footing is important to me, but I held off knowing that the short layout was way too easy for me.
- CHARACTER - In addition to the poor back tees, the overall amenities and basics wouldn't match the level of the average course out there. The signage is adequate yet simple being the typical metal frame signs with the white plastic insert. They show a few obstacles, distance and hole number. There is one bench on the layout, not that seating is necessary for such a short layout. No practice basket or alternate pin placements. There was a community board giving info about the game and the rules. There is a scorecard mailbox there as well, but when I looked inside, I could tell it hadn't been filled in a long time.
- ELEVATION - Hole (2) is about a 15 foot down shot. Other than this noted hole, the remainder of the holes all change by less than 10 feet.
- UNIQUENESS - In addition to little elevation, the overall course variety is lacking. The holes are generally moderately wooded with seemingly little thought in the line development. Hole (7) from the back tees is a super quirky 6 foot wide lane that cuts 45 degrees to the right 75 feet from the tee. There are no water elements, par 4s or par 5s. The longest hole is just shy of 350 from the back tees.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - A touch below average. The tree canopy that covers 80 percent of this layout is the best feature. Seeing older school buildings consistently in the backdrop is less than ideal.
- ACCESS - Being on school grounds, this course is not accessible for non-students during school hours.
- PARKING - There really isn't anywhere logical to park, so I just parked on the grass near the course.
- SPACING - A tight squeeze of a course. There's a shed in fringe play on a few holes. There's a running track in play on (9) and there are some picnic tables scattered near a couple baskets. Not the worst hazards out there, but I could see some abbreviated plays on a few holes if other park features are in use.

Other Thoughts:
From the information I found online, it says that this course was installed in 2012. How in the world did 6 years go by without this course being posted on DGCR. I could understand this notion had Stapleton been a non-maintained, basket only course out in boondocks. Driving in, I honestly only expected to find a 0.5 rated course, but this course is not that. The Stapleton School course is far from winning any awards, but it does offer the basic elements of the game where school kids and locals off hours can come and learn the game or to practice.
- NAVIGATION - No map online or onsite. There are no navigational cues and I probably spent about 5 additional minutes scouting for the back tee markers. All stated, that fact that the course is so short and that the grounds underneath the tree canopy are maintained, spotting tee signs and/or markers is not frustratingly difficult.
