The way to flip ball golf to disc golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 23, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Dual Tees on most
-Long tees are concrete
-Decent Signage
-Good Mix of long/short
-Short tees give many different looks
-Cool basket up on large tires (See Basket #14 pic)
-Neat flag out in the river (See View from near Basket #4 pic)
-Amazingly open for as many trees as are here
-Water only in play on a small interior wetland spot
-Walking path along outside of park, but does not come into play, otherwise all disc golf
-Many benches / trashcans
-9 Hole loops
-Park is well maintained

Cons:

-Short tees are just a large metal disc in the ground
-Minimal elevation to work with
-Back 9 is long (3 holes over 500', one just short of 600')
-Trees don't come into play much, lines are open
-Goose hangout
-Can get very busy on weekends

Other Thoughts:

Sunkissed Meadows DGC is located along the Des Moines River in the western part of Fort Dodge, IA. A former ball golf course, it appears the locals have worked very hard to changeover to disc golf. Updates from earlier pictures see concrete tees added on the long tees, signage added and a set of short tees on all but 3 holes marked with a large red metal disc. 6444' from the longs makes for a long course, especially on the back 9. Lines are very open throughout even with many older trees around the grounds. There is minimal elevation to work with, being in the river bottoms. This also is a place that Canadian geese like to hang out. While they waddled away as I approached, there was a fair amount of poop to watch out for, especially on the back 9. #11 looks like there is normally a small pond, but drought in the area has that pretty dry at this time. This was my second attempt at playing as the first time I arrived to a full course on a Saturday afternoon, but my play here on a Friday was mostly to myself. Possibly adding concrete tees for the shorts and shortening a couple of the really long holes on the back 9 (I'm looking at #14 especially) would add to the rating for me, here. A truly enjoyable round, a wonderful job done by those taking are of the place, I would definitely play again.

Very nice place. Love that it has a trail wrapping around the entire course. Wheres the map? The front nine had green baskets and the back nine had blue baskets, I liked that.
