Pros:
Sunshine is an 18 hole course on 11 baskets in a quiet, isolated town near Squam Lake. Most tees have signage that includes distance, a map, and par information. Navigating the course is pretty easy for a first timer too. Signage points to most tees and walking paths between tees are well maintained. The fairways here are really well defined and the woods play is fair but challenging. As long as you stay on the fairway, unruly foliage is probably not too much of a problem here. Some tees have benches. There is some nice use of elevation here. The course flows well, looping back to the parking area about three times during the round if you want to cut it short. The variety of shots is well balanced and comprehensive, and distances range from 142 - 600 feet. There are a few ace runs here, and one or two true par 4s that require two well-placed shots for birdie. Still challenging, but the woods play here is much more forgiving than other courses I've played. There's a port-a-potty at the parking area that seems to be cleaned somewhat regularly. No charge to play, beautiful property, not crowded, and a fun 18 hole round.
Cons:
Baskets are old and only have one layer of chains. I didn't have any unjust spit-outs, but the quality of baskets here is severely lacking. Many tee pads have awkward footing due to rocks and roots, including the tee for hole 14, the longest hole on the course. There are no trash cans in the park so pack in/out. If you land in the rough, it's going to be very tough finding your disc. I'm also not a huge fan of courses that use the same baskets for different tees. Some walks between holes are awkward and could send you in the path of another groups drive if the course is experiencing heavy play. Parking is also somewhat limited here.
Other Thoughts:
This course would be an easy 3.5 if the baskets were upgraded and the tees were improved. And with 18 unique baskets, it would be a solid 4. A few lacking basics but an otherwise solid course all around. A really fun course to play that could just use a few upgrades to be a really excellent course.
