East Texas Hospitality

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 13, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well marked Tee's
Great Mixture of Open and VERY tight wooded holes
Small Green's fee
small pro shop on site

Cons:

dirt/grass tee pad
Some of the wooded holes are throw and pray
Open holes can be very open

Other Thoughts:

Tyler has been trying to get me out there ever since he built the course. I finally got a chance to do an East Texas trip and contacted him for permission to play.

Very cool, got a guided round with golf cart.

The course starts off with a couple of short warm up holes with the first tee being in front of the house.

Hole 3 goes into the wooded area behind the house, these holes are super right with a couple of the holes being throw and pray holes.

Of course Tyler throws the homer shots and I attempted to follow his lead.

Hole 8 goes back out into the more open field, but the basket is tucked back into the tree line to the right.

Hole 9 is your first really air it out open hole, HOWEVER, there is a very narrow double mando at the tree line around 400ft out. This makes this a tough hole.

Hole 10 is a more fair wooded hole with a hanging basket

Hole 11 to 15 are more wide open to mostly open shots

Hole 15 can be played as an island hole, got to clear the fence at around 270ft.

16 throws back into the thick woods, but had a decent fairway if you can hit it.

17 is down though a clearing into the open.

18 is a good uphill wide open birdie shot to finish your round.

The fairways are well mowed with the grass being longer in the rough of the field holes. This rough could be played OB for a tournament.

Would I play here again? Actually, I think I would enjoy playing this one again. The course is not long and drawn out. it was super hot the day I played but using the cart and 1/2 the holes being in the shade, it was not too bad. I rated it a 4, I don't think it is quite good enough for a higher rating, I just thought a 3.5 was a little low. I think this is more of a 3.75/5 for me.

Tyler does have plans for this property, he plans on upgrading the course to only make it better.

If you are in the area, send him a message and see if you can play. He is now pushing it on social media.
