Pros:
A fairly long course from the pro tees (Clemson Purple), and not too long from the am tees (Clemson Orange). Most tees are a fair distance apart for the average player. Good course to work on your drive.
Cons:
Extremely open course (except first 3 holes), and did not make any use of available lakefront. CLOSED 2-3 days before all Clemson football home games.
Other Thoughts:
Much of this course is used for parking during Clemson Football home games, which means it is primarily big open fields. I am very impressed with the designers incorporation of any available obstacle to make the course less open and add interest to the course. Considering the location, they did an excellent job designing this for the maximum variety. Basically, on many holes, you look out at a large open field and see the basket 320 to 520 feet away, tucked right behind the only tree in the area. One is just on the other side of a no longer used baseball infield fence, sitting at about home plate where you must throw over the fence. They really didn't have a lot to work with, and they did the best they could, considering.
Another side effect of using this for football crowd parking is that they remove the Baskets and signage a couple of days before a home game. They also will not be putting in concrete pads, but do have decent signage and well marked tee locations.
As a side note, the PDGA has listed a course here for years. It was a short, awful object (non)course with painted posts to hit, and zero creativity used in the design. The rebuilding into the new course was fairly well done, considering the property's multipurpose, open nature.
Course is by no means hilly, but not totally flat either, most hole have at least a little elevation change. And, I think 54 for the pro par is good, but the rec par should be more like 62 (when played from pro tees). I put rec par #'s in notes for hole description.
