Bad design

Reviewed: Played on:May 9, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice baskets. A few nice wooded holes

Cons:

After #3 fence was locked. Had to either climb over or take VERY long walk around the entire school. Some of the holes are inside a fenced in area. #9 is a ridiculous design that throws directly over a tennis court with nowhere to bail out. Some signs were also missing so wasn't sure where to throw from on #3. I think I found the post for #4(no sign).

Other Thoughts:

While there were a few nice holes this is not a good design. I realize this is designed for elementary kids but if any other kids are on the playground area you can't play holes 1 2 and 3. They throw around and over playground equipment basketball courts etc. I've never seen a worse hole than #9 over the tennis court. Obviously you can't play there during school hours but there are serious safety issues for kids playing during school (retired PE coach here)

Easy Course at School 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 30, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

easy 9 hole course around school
good for beginners nothing long
Good for quick practice round, except #9

Cons:

only open non-school
playground, tennis court, soccer goals come into play
Having to throw a thumber over tennis courts not wise

definitely need to go when school not in use to many kid obstacles on the holes.

Decent course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 23, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Fantastic brand new Innova Discatcher baskets that are red
- Tee signs to notify us where the tees are as well as the distance and hole number
- This course actually had some decent variety, which is rare for an elementary 9 hole course. This course had a dogleg left, a dogleg right, a few lightly wooded holes, a few wide open holes, and even a hole that you have to throw over tennis courts on! This made for a fun round, rather than a boring round that I normally receive from 9 hole courses.
- The course was mowed pretty good, and regular maintenance is in place.
- The course loops back to the same parking area, which is good
- No ridiculously long walks from basket to next tee.
- I enjoyed the added difficulty of the trees that come into play on this course. This made me have to throw strategically rather than just throw a bomb on a wide open course.
- Ace runs are abundant, which adds some fun for the experienced player.
- Beginner friendly distances
- Not much elevation, but was used well in order to create some variety
- Very quick course to play. It took me under 30 minutes

Cons:

- No tee pads. Not a huge issue but would have been nice to have something to grip my shoes on to make for better tee offs. Also, areas around the tee signs weren't always level or clear of roots, rocks, etc.
- This course can not be played during school hours, especially since this course runs right next to lots of classroom windows and the school itself. This limits when the course can be played.
- While the tee signs were helpful for identifying where the next tee was, some holes were hard to find. I had to look for 2 or so tees while playing this course.
- There is some areas that a disc could be lost. All of the woods that run beside holes 2, 3, 4, and 5 can eat a disc due to the thickness and underbrush that that area has.
- While the fairways were somewhat defined, some holes
- The holes were fairly short. A few were under 200 feet. This makes the course not very hard. For me, I enjoy a good challenge. While this course wasn't the easiest in the world, it definitely wasn't hard enough for the experienced player.
- No trash cans or benches
- The course doesn't drain well, as I found standing water on some holes.
- Course runs by the street pretty close on a few holes and runs by backyards of homeowners.
- While different, hole 9 is very illogical. Throwing over tennis courts is not a good idea. Not only is it dangerous, but it makes no logistical sense, and could really scratch up a disc if you don't make it over.
- No risk/reward putts or anything to make it difficult.
- Danger abounds with the playground, soccer field, basketball court, garden, etc. that the course plays by and runs beside.

Other Thoughts:

This course gave me a pretty fun round. While relatively short, this course allowed for a variety of shots and used the land available pretty well. Some issues, such as the limited times available to play the course, danger of other amenities, and the overall lack of challenge made this course a 3/5. This was a really fun course though, and its worth your time to play!
