Its Tight and Technical, but a look into the future for this park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 8, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great new DISCatchers.
Tee signs with distance and par and small hole layout.
Heavily wooded course right near park entrance and outdoor pool complex.
Easy to follow course since you can see the next tee pretty easily.
Most of the lines seemed fair to me, great chance to work on your technical game.

Cons:

The gravel tees are a good effort, but they are short and pretty dug out at the fronts. Seems it wouldn't be too tough for park maintenance to walk thru and smooth them out regularly.
Several holes had strange layouts:
#1 - probably the widest fairway straight ahead, then a right turn and probably another 50-60' to the basket. Kind of tough to make that turn, then keep going another 50'.
#6 - short hyzer hole, not sure if it was changed after the tee went in, or the tee was installed wrong, but the tee is about 45 degrees off the correct angle.
#7 - definitely the tightest fairway, a straight path only a few feet wide, and another path wider, yet deadends before the basket.

Other Thoughts:

This course is right near the entrance gate ($2 to park) of this growing park. There are already several amenities, waterpark, playground, shelters, lagoon and walking trails. The park appears well kept and the staff were very friendly when I stopped in. Since this course is very near the outdoor pool complex, it would be an easy walk over for a nice break. Really, from any activities in the park, come here and play a quick round on this fully shaded course.

Yes, all the holes are heavily wooded, #1 probably the least wooded, but I felt most of the lines were hittable, except for the #7. Since it is a short course, average hole length is just over 200' (with one at 250' and one at 300') so if you miss a fairway, the recovery won't be too long. The nice yellow bands on the DISCatchers are helpful in planning your shot.

The only tricky transition was after the frustration that is #7, you have to walk back a little to get to #8 tee. Overall, its a pretty quick play.

Talking to the staff in the office, the Master Plan for this park has an entirely new 18 course planned to go in the north end of the park. Not sure of the future of this 9 hole tract, but it may be here just to judge interest for the planned course. So if you are in the area and want to get in a quick nine, it would help to show some interest in this course.
