Ehh... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 9, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Tee-pads are decent... bout it really

Cons:

Poor basket placement, some baskets are super close to others. You can get lost easy. Theres one hole where you actually have to walk back up the fairway from which you just came. Fairway after fairway back and forth, some fairways only have like 10-15 feet between em so look out for discs bouncing off trees...

Theres like 3 or 4 holes that are almost identical, tree placements and all.

The park (im guessing) put these plastic cover things on some the trees in the fairways to i guess protect the trees from disc damage.. So look out for small trees that are twice the width they should be because of this.

Pretty busy, no smoking, no drinking. There was one sign that said no swearing like 3 times over and over... Full of retards the two rounds i played, kids throwing sticks at baskets, old clueless people throwing beach frisbees etc...

Hole 5 is pretty pointless....

o ya, theres one hole thats only 112 feet with zero obstacles... common now.

No holes over 300 feet.... maybe #18... maybe

Other Thoughts:

Overall pretty stupid course, you can tell whoever designed knew nothing about disc golf... Maybe it was designed for beach frisbee throwers...

Pros:

Nice tee pads, with new baskets. A great piece of property nestled in a park. Loved the idea that you only need to bring your Magnet to throw with. Excellent parking (lot is bigger than the area that the first 9 holes are located on).

Cons:

Very, very tight lanes (if that is what you call them). Not much thought put into placement of baskets. In some locations, your basket may be located just a few feet from another. I don't expect a fairway, but the placement of baskets in the middle of 8 close trees makes getting a shot off nearly impossible at times.

Other Thoughts:

Gave a 1 simply because of the tee pads and nice baskets...rate this course as if you were playing a mini putt putt course. Don't waste your time if you are a thrower, or if you think this will help your short game....

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 31, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cement tee pads on all 18 holes. Has a few challenging narrow gaps through woods which provide adequate challenge for intermediate players. Dense trees provide some shelter from surrounding winds. Hole 14 is probably the best hole, with slightly more room for RHBH shots and a pin placement near a small creek. Signs posted on most holes. Decent baskets, low crime area, free admission.

Cons:

Holes are way too close together, especially on the front nine. Some holes are laid out such that you may shoot at the wrong basket (Holes 7/8/9). Many signs have inaccurate distances posted. A couple of really short holes under 150 feet are a bit mundane. Despite being a very short course in a small area, the next tee may be a fairly long distance from the pin and hard to find (Hole 11), but would not pose a problem after the first few times on the course. Almost every hole is wooded, with a general lack of variety among the various holes. In-your-face 'NO ALCOHOL' sign meant to intimidate in the finest Holland-area tradition (the nicest way to say this), so party-oriented activities are a big no-no, especially with people on nearby walking trails.

Other Thoughts:

It's amazing that the Eastern Lake Michigan shoreline has so few courses, and the ones that do exist don't take advantage of the land available (Beast and Hickory Hills excepted). Skip this course unless you're a local looking to improve your mid-range game, or want to play in an enclosed space to avoid high winds. Basically a 2.0 course with extra points for the cement tee pads.

Best course in west michigan 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Well marked out. Cement pads. Tight wooded course but getting wider as we speak... i am sure there is some yahoo out there knocking trees down.

Cons:

Can be frustrating if you are not very good. They have also changed a few holes in the last year... for the worse.

Teenage Wasteland 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 5, 2006 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

18 baskets and 18 concrete tee pads. Great place for beginners or someone looking to work on their short game. Hole 14 has a great water hazard.

Cons:

Some very short and some very narrow shots. Fairways are tight, even unreasonable at times. Course is filled with casuals which can get very busy and annoying. Constant vandalism and trash devalues the course. Not recommended for serious players.

Other Thoughts:

I think this course is good thing, but also a bad thing. On one hand I think this is a waste of baskets, and a very poorly designed course. I live in the area and rarely play this course. On the other hand, Winstrom provides somewhere for the not so serious disc golfers to go and play. I feel this course is used and abused as many people just go there to drink and smoke. If you are in Holland and want to play a good course, head south to Shore Acres DGC instead.

Holland wussies 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

closest decent course to grand haven. improve your short game and shot accuracy. something to do. this course is made for the forehand shot if you want to learn.

Cons:

a bunch of boners play here can get jammed up occasionally. lots of yelling at the park/swearing. trees suck just cut them down in some spots. holland is pretty lame. oh ya holland is pretty lame.

Other Thoughts:

not a bad course if you live in the area or are traveling though. play it two or three times just to get the layout down as its a easy walk. watch out for flip floppers ( real frisbee users) and friendly dutch christians/blackwater recruits. saw a bum fight there once with a guy in a barry jersey

bogey woods 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good course if you lazy, pretty easy walk. IMproves your short game. Easy to skip a hole and pass flip floppers. Lots of spectators walk around the course, not babes though mostly old people asking how the game works

Cons:

Holland sucks. There are only a few good holes to toke up on. there are a lot of cry babies who don't like swearing or the beerz. You will get very frustated playing this course.

Other Thoughts:

i have played this course a million times, somtimes you get lucky, but most the time you will hit a tree. It will get your accuracy better, but if your looking to bomb some long drives, bogey woods is not for you.

Technical, too wooded for my liking 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 18, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very technical, will challenge your accuracy.
Some elevation changes, mostly very tight woods.
A pretty useless map and scorecard are available at hole 1.

Cons:

There is not real way to tell where the next hole is as there are so many paths and the tee markers blend in with the trees. The map did not really help.
Most Tee markers are broken, so you have no idea how far or where to throw.
Some holes aren't that wooded, but most are so tight its almost impossible to make it through for a birdie.

Other Thoughts:

Would be so much nicer if they would clear out a bit larger fairway on some holes that are 5 feet wide. Maybe arrows to next tee or a better map.

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice equipment, tee pads are nice, overall nice park with other amenities.

Cons:

crazy layout, crazy tight fairways. Its like they wanted to put a course out there, but wanted to cut zero trees. There is a lot of room there, they could have spread things out and utilized more of the open areas. I spent a lot of time trying to find next holes on many of the back holes.

Other Thoughts:

Nice little, short course, could easily be improved with some clearing and lengthening of holes. Looks like there may be a clash with several other sporting events that use the course or near-by facilities, as well as the haunted forest that closes the course entirely in October. boooo

Tightly Wooded and Short 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 2, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Signs and baskets are nice. Short holes make for shorter throws. You can be around the hole pretty easily in two throws if you stay in the fairway.

Cons:

Fairways are tight. A ton of small and large trees in the mix. If you stray into the woods good luck at getting out. Some of the basket placements are kind of ridiculous, in the middle of a bunch of trees so even if you're close you could easily miss a short putt. Also, tight fairways have lower trees, so tomahawk is almost impossible the throw on most holes.

very tight fairways verging on ridiculous. If you go off the beaten path, it will take you several throws just to wack your way through the dense tree cover

Stay in the Fairway! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 4, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

This is a fun course with WINDING, TIGHT fairways and a variaty of shots. It puts skilled golfers and average golfers on a more level playing feild due to being so wooded and not so long. This course will help your short game and help develop your accuracy.

Cons:

If you get off the fairway you are in TROUBLE! This course can punish good shots and make you wish you never started playing if you're throwing poorly.
