I was talking to someone about the prodigy drivers yesterday and he leasly convinced me to get one. See I figured they were way too fast for me, but he said a D4 would be too bad and it's ok for someone that doesn't have a ton of power. He said it was like a Valk with more glide....well I really like my valks.. and I'm starting to throw them pretty decently. would I be able to throw a D4? Or any of the prodigy distance drivers or should I just want for the fairways?

Wait for the fairways. I haven't thrown a D4 yet that I would consider understable.

I just realized how horrible my trying was in the OP...leasly instead of nearly....said the d4 would be ok instead of wouldnt...lol

Either way thats what I pretty much figured. He said they were really straight...and compared it with a valk...which surprised me because I thought they were all like superfast 11+ its ok I love my Valks anyway....

I have Eagles and I throw those pretty good too when I get a hold of one but those are way slower.

I'll wait for the fairways but who knows how long that will be I was at DGLO and the pros don't even have them yet....

I think valks need to go around the 350' power level before you'd see the turn that gives the D4 its big D. If you throw shorter, the D4 might make an okay headwind disc which its not designed to be  I'd suggest sticking with the valks, learning control, and pushing 400' before moving up to a warp speeders.

Yeah, I haven't been playing long and the Valk I can hit 300 Maybe a little further with a really good throw. Most of the time its probably a bit less than that. I'm still working out all the form and everything. I still throw a ton of mids too off the tee because at this point the driver doesn't go all that much farther. I've been long enough at this point though that I need to work driver into my throwing and practice and someone was like try this Valk and it was great....

Nah, I'd personally try a new mid or fairway before the D's from Prodigy, especially if you're mids and drivers are too far apart.

In fact I have no desire to ever buy one. But that's me.

I got to throw a friend's D4 yesterday. While it was definitely too fast for my noodle arm to make it fly how it "should", I was surprised at how easy to throw it was. I would generally exclude faster drivers from recommendations at your distances, but if you really want to buy a D-series mold from Prodigy, I would recommend the D4.

My D4 must be defective. I can handle(and love) understable, but understable and short is not something I can use from a driver.

I have their mids an M3 and M4, I just really like the plastic.

thats what I was told, even though its fast its "easy to throw. I may grab one if I can get it cheap just to have and maybe grow into....who knows...

Is it a Proto or First run because they fly differently I was told. The Protos are more overstable than the first runs....

The Valk/D4 relationship is a good analogy for me. With my warning track power (capping at 350 ft with a Valk) I get a decent amount of turn from a Valk that finishes dead straight. A D4 flies similiar (if not hit well it goes straight and the fades out, hit well creates a nice flex line) but has another 20 ft of D. A D4 just has more glide.

First run

I just got a proto D4 and a 1st run D4 last week. My proto is about a 7/10 and the 1st run is a brand new 10/10. So far, the 1st run is more overstable....that may or may not have to do with the 7/10 status of the proto.

FWIW, I can throw my valks in the 320--340 range....thought it would be a good comparison for you.

I have found both of my D4's to be too fast for my current game. Just like 7ontheline already posted, it is most useful to me as a headwind driver so far.

This is based on 1 session of field practice and 2 casual/practice rounds where I was throwing both D4's along with my trusted drivers from the teepad on most holes.

I by no means have a big arm lol. When I throw my d4 I have to release it on a bit of an anny and with all the power I can give it. It just goes out straight to about 350 and then has a little fade back at the end. It's def not as under stable as I had hoped an heard it was gonna be. I still get more D from my underworld.

IMO, the D4 isn't understable for the sub 400 ft thrower with OK form. It's neutral. Thrown flat (and hard) it will turn and the flex out.
