The only times I don't use a normal putter for a putt/approach is when it has to come down steep and there is a big risk for a roll-away, in which case I throw a floppy soft vibram something. This would be a very rare thing except that it's good for the little course in town.
I've head of putting with upside-down drivers on windy days, but I've never tried it.
I have a buddy who's a serious upside down putter guy. It works for him, but I can't do a damn thing with it. It's cool to watch, lots of twists and turns.

Ion for every makeable shot inside 150 feet. If I'm throwing a utility disc in that range, it's not to put it in the basket, just to park it.
Honestly, I think anything around 80-150' for most people, is just a park job. I don't think you realistically expect to make it. If you do it's great, but most the time you just want to save par.
I'll use a Comet,but it's more of a spin shot instead of a putt when it gets too far out. If I do hit chains it usually never sticks though lol
