Discraft Memorial Day Mystery box results $99

giphy.gif

My box should be here Wednesday. Its 9lbs so fingers crossed.

If you didn't order anything extra with your mystery box that could be a Grip Bag.

I didn't take a pic of my mystery box, but it was a big meh all around. I got two T-shirts, mini buzz, discraft pin, hat, dyed Z Wasp, full color Buzzz, big Z Sting, and what every disc golfer needs an Ultrastar!. Granted the ultrastar does have a Star Wars stamp, but I don't need anymore Ultrastars. The one T-shirt they were blowing out for $5 and I bought two of them so I ended up with 3 (but only two in the correct size I ordered).

I was suckered in again as my last mystery box from Discraft was kind of meh as well. I do really like the Buzz hoodie I got last time though and I will use both T-shirts, but thats it. I'm sticking to regular misprint boxes from now on from Discraft. I guess I can't win them all since I am still 2 for 2 in the DGPT mystery boxes from BG Ams having bags in them!

Damn a ultrastar!? Yeah I think it was cool of them to give out some chainstar lites but I think that drew in way too many people and they didn't have enough for their regular mystery boxes. And oh btw you can get a chainstar lite on walmart.com for 124.99 with free shipping. I would rather pay the extra 25 bucks and know I'm getting a basket.

Honestly I think that facebook video is shadey and possibly paid for, edited, and made by discraft.

Half the pack is unwanted/needed junk from every post ive seen on discord or reddit. As a community it is lame we are supporting Loot Box culture in disc golf. This is predatory and a money grab that has clearly worked

100$ could get you so much more than 3 discs and some clothes. Especially when those are 3 discs you dont want and weird graffiti style 1990s junk.

It would be great to hear from Discraft at some point how many baskets/bags were sent out, because I bet its under 5 total.

If some random DGCR seller was selling mystery boxes and was met with this much shear disappointment he'd have been banned from the website. Brand loyalty blinds. This is thievery under the guise of gambling

Just judging by the posts/pics on the Discraft All Day group it was way more than 5 baskets went out. Discraft showed a picture on facebook or instagram that they added two more pallets of baskets because of the over expected sales. I also saw one person got the older model Chainstar.

After seeing posts on here and Reddit I'd say discraft surely underestimated the sales they were going to get. It sucks too the lack of transparency. Like they made a ton of money so giving what I can tell from only here and Reddit three discs and a shirt it's a rip off. I don't care if they sent out x number of baskets your baseline box should make the buyer feel like at least they made their money back.

I know this is a small sample size but these are no way worth anywhere near 99 bucks.

This could be a PR nightmare for Discraft, looks like Ace Race leftovers. Feel bad for you guys, hope someone here gets a good one.

Are those tyedyes Zombees? That disc isn't that old is it? Or did they do some retro stamps?

The 3rd pic in the first post isn't too bad. Those zip-up pullovers are nice and retail for close to $40 I think. Plus 3 discs and 2 shirts. If he had gotten better discs, that would have been pretty good for a no bag/basket box.

It all seems super fishy. I completely agree with a couple comments above, the WORST of all the boxes should be enough to make someone not feel ripped off.

Instead of 3 discs (wtf one is an ultimate disc or something?) it should be 5-8 per BOX + PLUS their leftover tournament JUNK. There should at least be 100$ worth of discs (retail price) because like others have said, they produce the discs for probably 30% of the retail price.

Comparing these boxes to retail and thinking "Well I paid 100, but I got 150-200 in clothes and 3 discs worth in retail (probably not in your size) so its all good" is foolish.

The only time someone should spend 100$ on disc golf at once is for: A basket, A backpack, or 6-10 discs of YOUR CHOOSING, not a chance at possibly winning these things.

That is actual robbery. I wouldn't even pay 50$ for 3 discs a random hoodie and miscellaneous cloth items.

The Discraft Facebook group shows baskets and dope ****.... Of course it does, I am sure they had behind the scene picks or friends that could hook it up. Or just plain old marketing shills, it's the way of the world now. They could give out 20 or 1000 baskets

At this point I trust random reddit users, friends on discord and dgcr more than people in a Discraft All Day facebook group. The bottom line is, the majority of people were legitimately ripped off by about 50$.

Also, and no offense to any of your personally, if you trusted a company OR any random person to load you up a mystery box in good faith, you ****ed up. The only reason a company would ever do mystery boxes is to make insane amounts of profit in bad faith.

Can we compare what discmania/innova mystery boxes are like compared to Discraft? Is this an industry standard?

Boycott mystery boxes.

edit: I didn't buy a mystery box, got no horse in this race. This is all hilarious to me in a gross capitalistic way.

It is rather ridiculous that they apparently went full blown retail value on at least $15-30 worth of useless swag. I mean its obvious they were like..."Hmm, we need $5 more for this box..." "I know lets put a bottle opener in there."

I mean damn, I would think every box would have several minis of different kinds, including at least one of the oversized minis, if not two.

If they really were just overloaded by orders, they should have just been honest and told people they might have to wait a bit and it would be worth it. Instead it seems like, at the least, they either rushed out some rather skimpy boxes thinking it would be better to just get them out or flat out just didn't care and threw in whatever.
