I played my first ace race last year and it was definitely a fun time. At the one I attended we broke into groups of 4 or 5. The TD let us make our own groups. Since I didn't really know anyone I just jumped into a group and had a lot of fun. You record any aces or metal hits and report them...
What's your favorite disc from each manufacturer?
If you could only have one disc from each manufacturer in your bag, what would they be?
Mine are...
Discraft: Banger-GT - I just love the feel of it in my hand. The Comet would be a close second.
Innova: Leopard - The only Innova disc in my...
My first discs were the Innova DX starter set, Aviar, Shark, and Leopard. I've lost the shark and leopard. I still have the Aviar but I don't throw it anymore. I still throw leopards but I lost that first one.
I'd suggest starting with a Mid and Putter. I'd get a Discraft X Comet and whatever putter feels good in your hand. If you want to add a driver a little later, I'd suggest a Leopard.
I've been playing for about a year and I've tried a number of discs. These ones seem to work the best for me...
I played a round with my sister on a beautiful day today. She seemed to like my Discraft Banger GT. So I'm thinking about getting her:
Innova Stingray ~165g
Discraft Banger GT 165g-170g
I'm also going to get a few discs to keep in my trunk for those spontaneous rounds or to loan to people...
Like I said, we've only been out to the course a few times. She plays backhand, but I'd like to show her some forehand and overhand throws. I play mostly backhand myself.
Are you suggesting the Comet and Stratus because they are a little understable? Is that better for a beginner?
The Stratus is listed as a driver, but looks like a mid-range. Is it controllable enough for a beginner at slow speeds?
My sister's birthday is in June. She'll be 20 years old. I'm thinking about getting her a couple of discs for her birthday, but I'm not sure what to get.
Last summer she went out to the course with me a few times and seemed to enjoy herself. She just threw some of the discs from my bag, but...
Thanks for all the responses. I like seeing what discs other players like. Here's my favorites:
Distance Driver: Don't throw them - I'm trying to get better with Leopards first.
Fairway Driver: Leopard - I have 1 DX and 1 pro
Understable Mid-range: X Comet
Stable Mid-range: DX Buzzz...
What is your favorite *blank* disc and why?
