    Disc Golf Unchained

Hey everyone. I've been pretty silent for the last couple of months but only because I've been (happily) working my tail into the ground on this game. That said, I've got some big news on the Disc Golf Unchained front. I've known from the start of development I would need some help with this...

    Disc Golf Unchained

The prototype is fairly easy on my computer with a mouse (which I used to make the videos). And the player was fully levelled at the time. And I think I had the wind set pretty low.... wind changes everything. Also iirc that version of the basket was a little grabby if you knew where to hit it...

Yes and yes. They're not exactly feature complete but an in-game economy and player progession are both in the prototype.

    Disc Golf Unchained

Good questions... I've answered some of them previously in the thread but to save you the hassle of digging it up... Backhand and sidearm are in the prototype and I plan on including overhand (thumbers and tomahawk) as well. Rollers will just happen. Many properties affect the flight including...

I think so too. I haven't messed around with stamps or the visual qualities of the discs at all other than color and mold shape. Ideally whatever I come up with will be a good representation of real life discs and I suppose I'll have to at least attempt some sort of "upload a stamp" function, right?

    Disc Golf Unchained

Still Alive Hey everyone, just wanted to stop in and give a quick update on Unchained. Development has been in full swing and the game has evolved quite a bit since we've last talked (don't worry, my core objectives are still the same). I've gotten to a point where I've pretty much shelved the...

    Disc Golf Unchained

The current wind implementation is fairly accurate as far as what I would expect in real life. It is also the easiest way to add difficulty to the game. Disc to ground contact has been a pain to say the least. Skips are currently pretty generic (everything kinda flares towards the fade...

    Disc Golf Unchained

Playable? Yeah, sure... for me and my testers. If your question is about the actual release of the game (being playable by others)... then no. I'm still shooting for a late 2013 release date though.

    Disc Golf Unchained

Ha, well, that's okay. Less social interaction equals more work on the game for me. I've actually been getting into some really interesting stuff with the terrain engine. Although... a new Borderlands 2 DLC came out this week and a new course is opening in two hours close to me so I'm pretty...

    Disc Golf Unchained

Thanks to everyone for participating in the caption contest. Congrats to dickparker for the winning caption: "If you get an ace, I'm not paying." If you couldn't guess from the profile pic, dickparker wanted an overstable fairway driver. Introducing... the Ricochet. Watch for it in future...

    Disc Golf Unchained

All I can say is that I'm going to do everything possible to release in 2013. Working on it. I'll PM the winner later today and get the disc in the game right away for all to see.

    Disc Golf Unchained

Wind is currently constant per shot. I like the gusting idea though... it's an interesting game mechanic that I haven't thought about. I'm picturing the flight preview line kinda swaying in the wind and then creeping in one direction as the wind picks up requiring some adjustment to the throw...

    Disc Golf Unchained

Impressions are good but click throughs are where the money is at. I'll start out with admob or similar services due to the easy integration and management.

    Disc Golf Unchained

Yeah. I'm thinking the only significant differences between difficulty levels will be the flight preview (flight path while aiming). Normal mode is the full flight without wind taken into account. Easy mode will show the full flight with wind. Hard would be either no or limited length preview...

    Disc Golf Unchained

Hey everyone. I'm going to cut off caption submissions at midnight CST tonight. Post 'em if you got 'em. And for my next trick... no contest or anything but I was looking through old development screenshots and found this one that illustrates a flight engine defect very early in development...
