Pros:
-Concrete Tees
-Nice New Baskets (Mach V)
-Excellent Signage, good map at start
-Good use of the area
-Decent course for beginners with some trees to work around and minimal elevation
Cons:
-Short, all holes sub 300', all but 1 sub 250'
-Shelter very much in play on #9
Other Thoughts:
Jacobson Bear Creek Park DGC plays in a small city park in the western part of Roland, IA. Decent for a small town park course with concrete tees and spiffy new Mach V baskets. The course begins at the lone shelter and moves counter-clockwise through the first 4 holes with a creek running behind the #2 baskets and along the right side of #3 and #4. It then turns inward for a couple of longer holes with #5 hidden behind a tree and #6 being a dogleg right with the bend right after the tee and following along the open area toward the basket. Play wraps up with a short up 7, back in towards the middle 8 and 9 that shoots back at the shelter. The last one is a little concerning if there would be anyone at the shelter. Would require a layup to the right to pitch in from there. Signage is excellent. One of the best courses for the size of park I've seen. A few miles off of I-35, but worth a stop to stretch your legs. I will probably play again.
