Some Potential, Some Disrepair 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 31, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Plays on a quiet plot of campus
-Mix of somewhat wooded / full open
-Not a bad course for beginners (except baskets, see cons)
-Disc loss and hazards minimal

Cons:

-DisCatcher Baskets have smaller than usual area for success (Deep baskets / short chains - see Basket #7 pic)
-2 Blue bricks with hole # and distance (in yards) mark tees, so natural tees
-Tee bricks mostly overgrown, some faded
-Needed UDisc to even find Tee #1 (Added a map)
-Not much interest for experienced players

Other Thoughts:

Iowa Central Community College has a passable DGC located on the western edge of its campus in Fort Dodge, IA. An OK beginner course with the longest hole at 289'. Tee boxes are marked with 2 blue bricks in the grass. These have, unfortunately, succumbed to overgrowth and fading in the sun. The baskets are a little tough to catch as well, the deep basket and slightly short chains leave a smaller than normal area to get your disc in there, For more experienced players, this could be a place to shore up your short game and zero on tight baskets, I guess. Baskets are also looking aged with some rusting. Holes #1-4 play in a more wooded area with blind tee shots on #1 and #2. Holes #5-9 play mostly wide open with a few trees on #5-7 to work around. A nice idea to have on a Community College campus, but needs some upkeep. Layout is OK, better to follow with the added map, now. Concrete tees, better baskets, or at least cleaning up / re-painting the blocks would help here. A quick round, a place to throw if Sunkissed Meadows is busy or a warm up for the same. I might play here again, if in the area.

Pros:

Well its hard to be too critical because I am impressed ICCC allowed a course on the college campus. So, with that said. As my title states its a fun course for a beginner or Novice player, or maybe a family who wants to try a great affordable activity.
Pros. Holes do have small tee markers to let you know how far to the basket.
Great mix of over-stable and under-stable throws. One hole which is quite short you have to navigate around a Large grouping of trees.
I played on a Saturday night during the summer. All of the students were gone. Very relaxing! I wish I could played the course several more times.

Cons:

The holes are poorly marked.

Maybe when the trees mature it will be more challenging.

No place for trash. No signage to even tell you where hole one starts.

No pads at this time.

Other Thoughts:

Once I figured out the course it did have a nice flow to it. I am going to put pictures up to help other DG players. I hope others will get and use the course, because I think the college will put signs up ect if they see it is being used.
