    Nine-hole course or 18?

Brockway is designed to be played as an 18 and most locals play it that way. If playing 18, the flow is to alternate short tees and long tees throughout the round. This takes you around the layout twice. The tees on each hole are set up to take advantage of the terrain and surrounding woods so...

Missing holes due to an emergency

That's a fair point. However, it seems that this thread itself is getting a little farfetched. The idea that you might be able to win a tournament despite being unable to finish because of injury seems preposterous to me. But the OP is a newbie trying to come to an understanding of the rules...

Missing holes due to an emergency

You can't win the competition of you are unable to complete the event. See the following from the PDGA ratings FAQ:

Missing holes due to an emergency

Depending on the circumstances, the player could continue in any of these cases. See rule 811 Misplay for applicable situations and penalties for the misplay.

How DO you know if you're "strong arming" it?

SW, help me make sense of this please. Are you saying that throwing 80% of max distance from standstill indicates strong arming, or not strong arming? What would be a good ratio of standstill distance vs. runup distance? Thanks.

2019 PDGA Am Worlds - YORK, PA

I disagree. Any points the MA50+ player earns in any division contribute to his qualification to play in his age bracket division at Am Worlds, in this case MA50+. If he wants to get an invite to play in MA40+ or MA1, then he needs to earn the specified number of points playing in those divisions.

2019 PDGA Am Worlds - YORK, PA

The quick sell out is certainly not unusual. They've been adjusting division caps annually for the past several years, but at the same time, interest among higher age group players is growing faster than they anticipate.

    888 or 999 for DNF?

You really can't remain in the competition if you fail to complete the course. See the Misplay Rule 811.F.3: Failure to Complete a Hole. The player has finished the round or thrown on a hole without having completed a previous hole. The score for the misplayed hole is the number of throws...

    Nate Sexton boycotting DGPT?

I doubt he's getting $200/per, though that may be how it reads on Patreon. Realize that many people put a cap on the number of videos they'll support per month. So, somebody may be donating $1/video for unlimited videos while somebody else donates $1/video for 1 video.

PDGA rules exam Question that has me stumped.

The important thing in a competition is that you and your cardmates are clear about what you're doing -- before you do it. If there's any doubt about your footing, your lie, or your mark, you just ask "is this OK?" Consider the drive in the original post that may have been OB. As you approach...

PDGA rules exam Question that has me stumped.

I don't see any ambiguity. If someone in the group says, "that drive may be OB," or "that's going to be close to OB," then the group checks the lie to make sure before you mark and throw. If you're within a meter of the line and plan to take your relief, the logical thing to do is have a...

Central Coast Disc Golf - CCDG vids

Ian, I was watching and enjoying the Farragut coverage yesterday. Thank you. Some of those guys aren't exactly household names (yet?). Anyway, during the commentary you always refer to the players by their first names. Then on the scoreboard pages between holes, the players are listed by only...

2019 PDGA Am Worlds - YORK, PA

Typically toward the middle of June registration opens up to "all Amateur PDGA members." Whether there will be space in your division at that time is a matter of conjecture.

Would you pay for live coverage now?

No, I'm not interested in live coverage. The product is not compelling enough for me to spend my whole afternoon on it. I do contribute to the post-produced coverage and very much enjoy watching the 30-minute segments at my convenience whether that be later today or sometime next month.

    Shifting correctly makes bracing easy

This is interesting and helpful. However the word "right" in the title had me confused. I think you mean "correctly." I was trying to figure out how you righties were doing this shift to the right of the intended line. That seemed to be more appropriate for lefties.
