What do all those Wizards do differently?

What do all those Wizards do differently?

I use the Nikkos for putting only.

Last year, I used the two Soft Wizards for approaches and drives. The oldest one has been in the bag since 2013, the newer one, since 2018. The newer one is plenty seasoned, but still holds a strong fade when put on a hyzer. I use it as my all purpose workhorse. The older one I use for more understable work like turning shots.

Since Soft Wizards went OOP, I have not been crazy about any of the current plastic options offered by Gateway. I've got a couple Soft Wizards stowed away, but I'm not in any hurry to break them out. I don't ever want a bag without Soft Wizards.

So I decided to bag my old Soft Ion. Honestly, it should have been in my bag this whole time. I wanted to learn how to throw all shots with Wizards and at this point I feel like I've accomplished that. The Soft Ion will work its way into the rotation. It is faster and has more glide than my Wizards, plus it's in premium plastic. It will be mostly utilized off the tee, while the Wizards will handle more of the approach work.

My thinking is, if I am willing to insert Ions into my Wizard "cycle", it will help extend the longevity of the Soft Wizards I've got.

Sucks when a plastic for a disc is no longer offered. I have had this before with the XL and went for the Z Stalker in its place. Turns out the other option works even better for what I need.

Another stretch of 40s here! I played 64 holes over last two days. I hit the same pin twice with the MJ Comet.

I added the GStar Sidewinder that I used for the bulk of last season, it holds a turn better than my fresher one.

If I removed the Firebirds and replaced the Roc/3 discs with the Shark 3 I could more then likely play with your bag. I used Wizards at one point and I do like a softer disc usually for for longer putting. Then the Ion is almost a lower profile Wizard. Sidewinder I have tried and could use but do not feel is super comfortable compared to the Valkyrie. Also you have a Road Runner, a disc I have tried as well though not Star, Champion and in Star the Road Runner will be more OS.

Keep in mind, Soft Wizards are not soft!

Only in the 20s today, but I found a course that is mostly grass so I couldn't resist.

And the Nikko Wizards are like the old ones I am more familar with. The Soft if disc is just like Modern Pro D in terms of soft I will be okay, I do not need that soft of discs for further out putting from 25-35 feet. Further then 35 feet and I am using my approach disc or that Ion for longer putting with an approach disc.

55 degrees today! More wind than I am accustomed to playing in, but I just couldn't bring myself to leave the course. Gave the overstable discs a workout. I played 45 holes.

I've been on spring break since Friday. It has continued to be unseasonably warm. It was in the 60s over the weekend, I played 100 holes. I brought the 167 Champ Sidewinder out and I'm glad I did. Its nice to have a Sidewinder with a bit more stability.

100 holes? Do you have an arm left? Any vertebrae in your lower spine? ;) Just kidding.

I finally got to play today, for the first time in weeks, and at the end of the day my back was letting me know about it. Enjoy your youth; the aches and pains only grow from here...

Woah soft wizards were discontinued? I have a small stack of them thankfully. I think I need to go back to using the wizards, I never knew why I went away from them. Probably because every time I went to a store that had them, super softs felt completely different. Even with my softs I have some that are actually soft, and some that are hard as bricks.

Why'd you switch out the KC Pro Roc for a buzz to pair with the comet?

I'm 38 and I don't throw as hard as some. Luckily, I have avoided any arm or shoulder pain so far. My feet have a lot of miles on them though. I'm hoping playing a lot of holes is good conditioning.

I know, its so sad. I wish they would even do a small batch of Soft Wizards.

I have been trialing the Buzzz. Next time I go out I'll probably be throwing the Comet/KC Pro combo.

Another 57 holes today and more fantastic weather.

So I brought the Rocs out for the first couple holes. I just don't have confidence in that KC anymore. It might hold a stronger fade than the Comet is capable of, but it definitely has less HSS at this point in its life. I feel much more confident with the Comet. The Buzzz for me overlaps more with the Roc3s. I'm sick of trying to find good Roc3s and not having any luck. I've been throwing this Buzzz since 2018. I like it better than any of the Roc3s I've tried to replace the one I lost. My stack of Rocs isn't going anywhere, I'm sure I'll revisit them again in the future.

My spring break has been extended a week due to the coronavirus situation, so I've been playing a bunch.
