We have a private course. Up to this point our baskets have been a mismatch of various cheap baskets, mostly instep baskets. We recently got a bunch of new DD Patriot baskets through an estate sale. This si going to let us fill out the whole course with those, pretty awesome.

One of our current holes is a basket hung from a giant tree limb. Currently we have a modified InStep basket there. The hanging basket is popular, and we want to keep that element. Does anyone have any experience with hanging a basket like a Patriot?

The current basket is suspended with some cable. It runs through the center pole, loops around one of the screws (we replaced the cotter pins with screws) and goes back out the top through the flag holder. It's held together with the tiny u-bolt clamps. The cable around the tree limb is in side of a rubber tube (actually a fuel line) to keep from cutting into the tree. We also make sure that it isn't too tight around the tree.

This has worked well for the InStep, but the Patriot is much heavier. I wanted to see if there were any other thoughts out there on how to go about it.

First, get rid of anything that goes around or over the branch. It will hurt the branch no matter how much it is padded. Use Treehouse Attachment Bolts (or something like them) instead.
