I have a Rhyno that is stamped R-pro. But two things make me doubt this is regular R-pro.
One, it is stiff, which is why I bought it in the first place. Stiffer than any R-pro I have ever felt in a Rhyno or any disc for that matter. It is also stiffer than the few old Pro Rhynos I have felt.
Second, it is not penned on the bottom as R-Ry, which is the marking I have always recalled seeing.
My guess is it is either an incorrectly stamped Dx b/c of how it is labeled. Or maybe transitional Pro/R-pro, but this does not explain how it is penned. I really like this one and am looking to get more like it, but not really sure where to start. I am actually hoping it is just a good blend of Dx that was incorrectly stamped, b/c that should be the easiest and cheapest for me to find.
What's the tooling on the back? I've seen a few of the old Ontario pro rhynos that were "lost" in the wharehouse and then just recently "found" and given the rpro stamp
San Marino. Probably should have mentioned that but if it was Ontario I would have definitely mentioned that. What's the tooling on the back? I've seen a few of the old Ontario pro rhynos that were "lost" in the wharehouse and then just recently "found" and given the rpro stamp
I would say it is fairly grippy. Certainly not slick. A little more grip than my Dx Roc3, definitely more than my KC Rocs, and about the same as my Dx Thunderbird (but not as stiff as the Thunderbird for frame of reference). How grippy is it? The factory store has stiff pro rhyno's that are quite grippy (http://proshop.innovadiscs.com/pro-rhyno-stiff.html). You might have one of those that got stamped R-Pro for some weird reason.
I have 2; they are San Marino tooled. The ink on the bottom looks similar except the one I just checked has the positions of the "RY" and "175" swapped compared to the picture you posted.
Yeah, this is super flat topped and I really like it. Not as stable as my Ontario Stars, but I don't need it to beFlat top rhynos... simply the best.
I really only care b/c I want to try and find more, and knowing what I have is the logical starting point.Haven't felt an rpro in awhile, but sounds like it, or transfer from rpro to dx.
edit: doesn't matter as long as you like it
I think you just ended up with a stiffer rpro. In rhynos, I haven't found rpro to be flippy at all, just grippy. No matter what it is, it's still a great rhyno

So your San Marino tooled ones, are they penned Ry or P-Ry or what? How flat are they also? I could buy a few from the proshop, if that is what they are, since they are not too expensive.

The one I looked at was "RY", with the lower right tail of the "R" becoming the upper left branch of the "Y" (if that makes sense).
My factory store ones are very flat, but I bought them from a friend and I have a sneaking suspicion that they might have been flattened after purchase.
you have seen 150g Pro Rhynos?A pro Rhyno beat 5 years in...
yes. They are a staple in my 150g bag.
You can lay into new-ish ones as hard as you want and they wont turn... assuming clean form. I am getting 275'+ out of mine. There is a 250' hole that I use a Rhyno and it feels like I am throwing at 70%.
After a decent amount of wear (5/10 selling condition) then they will start to develop a little turn. I haven't ever gotten rid of a Rhyno because it was too understable.
The 150s will go a little further but what you'll notice more it that they will stay straighter longer.
The one thing I don't like about the 150g DX Rhynos is that the plastic is waxy. I don't have 150 Rhynos in any other plastic.
A pro Rhyno beat 5 years in will drive on a rope line whether thrown high, low, head or tail wind, etc. most every time and stay there for many years. Good luck finding one for sale though. Most owners won't even think about letting them go once they fall into this gem category.
Oh, and don't go by looks. I've had the ugliest ones that you can imagine still fly stable.
you have seen 150g Pro Rhynos?
Ilmcgee-
I should have added to my first post that new DX 150s don't need clean form. Cleaner form is needed as they age.
LOL...I wouldn't say I have bad form, just gets worse the more I put into it...
LOL
yeah, me too!
