Planning a road trip from SD back home to KC in late Aug/early Sept. I know Morley Field in SD, a couple of courses in Phoenix area, and Thorpe in Flagstaff are must plays. Flexable on route (I40/I25/I70, I40/54/I35, I40/I44/71) but dont want to stray too far off whichever route I choose. Any "must play" or "dont play" suggestions?

Since your headed to KC, I'll leave the KC area courses out.

I40/I25/I70
This would be starting at Alberquerque...Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Denver, 350 miles of nothing, Salina, then KC. Don't know much about New Mexico, but getting into Colorado...

Pueblo City Park, Pueblo, CO
Jellystone Park, Larkspur, CO
Beaver Ranch, Conifer, CO (a little out of the way but worth it).
Frontier Park, Hays, KS
Thomas Park, Salina, KS

I40/54/I35
Tucumcari, Amarillo (close by), miles of nothing, Wichita, Emporia, KC.
Probably the best route in terms of mileage. Not much between Amarillo and Wichita though, and I don't know much about the TX panhandle.

Herman Hill Park, Wichita, KS
Oak Park, Wichita, KS
Jones Park - East Course, Emporia, KS
Jones Park - West Course, Emporia, KS
Peter Pan Park, Emporia, KS

I40/I44/71

Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Joplin, KC.

Tye F. Cunningham DGC, Edmond, OK
Dolese Youth Park, Oklahoma City, OK
Griffin Park, Norman, OK
Hunter Park, Tulsa, OK
Mohawk Park - Blackhawk Course, Tulsa, OK
McClelland Park, Joplin, MO (in case you're wondering, no the devastating tornado back in May did not hit it).
