Anyone using these? How are they holding up?

I used to have a pair of merrel trail running barefoot style shoes with vibram bottoms but only got 3 rounds before tearing the tread in the heel of my plant foot. Hoping vivos last longer…

I walked about 240 mi in a pair with the bigger tread pattern this year and they held up very well.
I'm surprised you had issues with the Merrells, I like the vapor glove line and usually get a season of use out of a pair before the heel gets too worn down. Vibram soles are usually more durable than any competitor, it's something I actively look for in a shoe.

I mean they were thinner vibram soles relative to the thicker hiking shoes. The shoes were something like this ( Merrell Men's Ascend Glove Minimal Running Shoe https://a.co/d/7OexBOs ) maybe a slightly different model.. but they did not like the pivot on my plant foot lol. Was a big fan on of the super light minimal feeling shoe though, definitely felt like I could get more speed on the disc.

I wore these for most of last season. They are extremely thin, to the point that I actually had a couple thorns go through the sole through the course of the year. The heel still lasted for basically a season of at least one round a week and one tournament a month.

Some other options might be looking into zero drop, wide toe, light trail runners from Altra such as the Altra Superior or Lone Peak. I think you'd keep a lot of the bio mechanical advantages you're looking for with higher comfort.

Though Altra quality can be varied.
