Best Course in Texas

... and to all of you who played Cirlce C (in south Austin) before they revamped it :

PLEASE COME BACK AND PLAY IT NOW!!!

Us Austin folks would appreciate the reviews to correctly reflect the current course. No I'm not telling you to give it a great rating (everyone has their own opinion), but at least an up-to-date rating. Trust me, it will be worth the trip.

Nah....it's not that great (speaking as someone who loves small crowds...)

OK, It's f-ing awesome, my new home course and favorite in TX. Come out and play and you'll see why. Check out the Waterloo web site for events out there, I believe they're doing Sunday Services at 9AM. every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month - but double check that.

Spray your shoes, socks and bag straps as there have been rumors of chiggers if you put your bag down in the wrong spot, but so far after about 20 rounds there, not a one. I guess you just need to keep it down the middle (haha) Please pack your trash, this is one of TX's dg gems.

It has many similarities with East Metro, difficult, technical, long at times, the rough is a little less treacherous. Both are gems and are designed by Mike Olse. Rumor has it that he's working on a redesign of a course near the TX coast, not sure which.

I'll be back in Austin sooner or later and I expect you to be my guide buddy! House still isn't sold and I'm starting to consider getting a job locally for now, until it sells. But the wife and I still havent wavered from our plan to move to Austin.

I played Pease 3 weeks ago and Circle C Mon. and I am being honest when I say they are very good courses to hone your game on especially if you like playing tournaments. For pure fun and a very laid back atmosphere I prefer my new course in Brady Tx. It will also challenge you but in a more open to airing it out kind of way. There are no gimme birdies but many are birdiable. There is one par four where all I had was an open field. Its over 6000 ft. I ran Bart in Austin in the late '80's and played tournaments all over the country so I might know what I'm talking about. Hope to see ya here some day. Larry Mann #3946

I will have to try Circle C next time I am in Austin. I can hit Old Settler's on the way back up to Temple.

I've only been playing a few months now (use to play a lot about 10 years ago but was never serious)

in the d/fw area I would say my favorite 2 are Bear Creek and ZBoaz. I grew up playing Veterans and it's a great course, I just think it's better for someone that has a long drive, and I don't have that yet (notice how I said "yet", I'm still working on it)

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

I think my review pretty much reflects what I think about that course, I gave it a perfect 5 discs. It is incredible, I honestly wish I was going back this weekend, Circle C blew me away.

Its a hard course but I feel like the pars are so fair that it makes it enjoyable for anyone. Did I mention I love this course because I totally do.

pretty good review. When I played and reviewed the course it was the old layout and it was still pretty good IMO. It sounds like its been much improved since, alas I need an update now.

I just watched the coverage of the lead card at the 2010 Dynamic Discs Cedar Hill Open, and the Beaver DGC at Lester Lorch Park looks really, really nice! I've been to Houston about a half-dozen times and made it out to Austin once, but other than Circle R Ranch & Moody's, I didn't think much of Texas disc golf courses. However, after watching the video of this course, I am really hoping to make it down to the DFW area sometime in the near future to play it...looks like a simply sublime mix of bombers & wooded holes, with a variety of shots required.

As soon as I saw the title to this thread, I thought of Harry Myers and the two Cedar Hill courses.

Admittedly, I have not tried many Austin or Houston courses, and I look forward to trying them ASAP!

I can say that Cameron Park West does not compare, and while many speak well of how Cameron Park East used to be, it has been out of commission for as long as I've been hearing about it, and remains so to this day as far as I know.

I think Lake Nacogdoches was installed after this thread went down...

Has anyone played that to compare to all the others above? I thought it was awesome personally.

im suprised nobody said kennedale park!!!

ok on a more SERIOUS note, bicentennial in crowley and zboaz in benbrook. but thats because they are close to my home and i play them frequently

this is my favorite course. unfortunatly it was still under construction when i got my degree and had to go back to houston and i havent been able to play it since the new teepads went in. texas army trail dgc seems like it will be pretty awesome whenever it is finished. the 10-12 holes they have open right now are pretty challenging.

Lake Nacogdoches is awesome. It still has dirt teepads though. Rumor is that they are planning on installing 18 more holes and putting teepads on all 36. Shawshank at Huntsville and Cedar Hill are my other faves.

oh for some reason i thought i remembered someone telling me they put some in...o well, i still need to get back there and play it again

Another one that hasnt been mentioned is Austin Ridge. Sure its a little crude, but it has some serious elevation changes. I had a blast when I went.

Veterans park is great especially with the new tee pads and houck signs. Lester Lorch is high on my list too.I also really liked Harry Myers, Turner Park and Circle R in no particular order

ive only played a small handful in texas but circle c and pease park(RIP) were my favorites, cant wait to go back and play more

DFW area, I'd say my favorite is Turner. So many cool shots out there. I think Shawshank is top notch as well! Got to caddy for my daddy during the US masters down there in April, such a great piece of property!

Waco, The bEast latest info from very active WDGA member.

Its been out for over a year. We are starting the new front 9 design this month, hopefully it will not require changing all the holes. We have also removed it from our mini schedule due to over growth of fairway and fallen trees. The back 9 plus alternate tees was whole and in play all of last year.

The good news/bad news is the same course designer is going to be desiging the new holes. However I believe theu will be designed with some of the modern distances discs are throw...

Looking to have it back before the end of fall, hopefully as it has been assumed when many times last year of time of completion.
