[Innova] Proshop GStar Eagle X & Firebird

Everyone says gstar is floppy, but once it leaves your hand it flies true to that mold, it is just floppy in your hand. I can see why gstar might not be the greatest in 90 degree+ weather, but if you give it a chance it's not that "floppy" in my opinion. It's not much different than esp flx really.

Well I hate esp flx too so..

I wanna throw a disc, not a pot holder. Not a fan of gummy discs.

G* star has been noticeably flippier then their star counterparts in the molds I've thrown (wraith, teebird, leopard) and they get quite floppy in 90 degree heat for me.

Still curious to hear how the FB flies though, especially for thumbers

Picked up three G*Firebirds and they just arrived...Yellow is the flattest, then my red and the orange had the most dome which still wasn't much. I won't get out to throw any of them this afternoon as it has been raining/storming a good part of today. Definitely not FAF but not domey either. I just hope they are still beefy firechickens nonetheless.

first run Leo's were more overstable for me

I have been curious about how stiff/floppy they will be. The plastic is already pretty soft, but add in a little summer heat and....???

My destroyer is magenta and pearly and gets super floppy in the heat. Like im afraid its going to be a puddle when I get up to it. My purple teebird isnt nearly as bad and has a great flight to it. Needless to say I think the teebird stays and the destroyer will probably get the boot. Im curious to see what these firebird will do!

there have been multiple reports from warm weather golfers who caim there is no difference

I just received both a Gstar Firebird and Eagle-X in the mail today. The Eagle-X was blue and super domey. Domey like the circle stamp champion Eagles. The Firebird was yellow and flatter than the Eagle-X but definitely not "pancake flat". It was raining and dark when I left work so I haven't had a chance to throw them yet. I now have 8 different molds in Gstar plastic and have loved the feel of all of them. I am slightly disappointed at how domey the Eagle-X is, but if it flies between a Gstar Teebird and Gstar Firebird, then I will be happy. Just hoping the Firebird is nice and beefy with slightly more glide than champion plastic.

Agreed. And you all are entitled to your own opinion, but it's warm here in Florida now, and my G* discs (Rhyno, TeeBird, Leopard) are just nowhere near floppy. The flight plates have some give, but they are in no way sagging in my hand. If you want a hard, firm disc, than clearly G* should not be your first choice. But they are not vibram soft. Mine are firmer than my vibram mediums.

Not sure if anyone cares but here are some pictures of the Gstar Eagle-X compared to the Champion circle stamp Eagles. You can tell they are very domey. Also, a picture of a CE Firebird and Gstar Firebird. You can see there is more dome on the Gstar Firebird than the CE Firebird but not as much as the dome on the Eagle-X.

any word on the flight of the fb? i just lost my star fb yesterday in the wet stuff. i have back ups but am interested in snagging a g star

Got an orange and a red Firebird in the mail yesterday. The red one is great, nice and flat, but the orange definitely has some dome to it. Has anybody tried flattening gstar yet?

I was just about to ask about the same question about flattening. If my Firebirds have too much dome, I might try the boiling water flattening process (but hoping someone else has already done it and can share the results).

I have a couple Firebirds on their way, but very curious to see how these fly. I can report that the G* plastic tends to be a bit less stable than others as that has been my experience with the molds I've thrown (Destroyer, Teebird, and Shark). I'm thinking these will be excellent for cold weather. I suppose I'll have to wait until next year to find out, but this line of plastic leads me to believe that G* discs will lose a bit of flexibility in cold weather yet remain grippy in wet or snowy conditions.

I'm pretty much on the same page.

I think Gstar is fantastic but I want to see how it wears in before I get rid of my other stuff.

I don't think Gstar is very durable. This may have been a freak thing, but my buddy nailed a tree with his brand new Gstar Destroyer and he put a crack in the rim.

I threw mine yesterday, it was a bit less stable, but still very nice.

Oh yeah, my orange g* firebird is super flat, I mean not board flat, but almost. I really like how it just sits after I throw it, it hits the ground and that extra give just absorbs the impact and it sticks. I like it, I mean it won't replace my 11x or anything, but a nice addition to the bag. I carry 2 or 3 firebirds, so I can see how this plastic will be nice for certain shots.

Anybody sneak out at lunch to throw their Gstar Eagle-x's??
