Can someone please tell me if it is legal to use a Zephyr during a regular round or is it pdga approved for super class only?

zephyr

Thanks for the response. So every disc on that list is approved for regular play? The Zephyr is on the list but is marked super class and vintage. The disc itself says it is pdga approved. People at my local course have been telling me it is only for playing against other people using super class..

I just ordered one and I'm curious to see if it will make the bag. I'm going to doubt I'll throw this one on the course, but it's perfect for catch to warm up before a round!

My buddy swears by them. But they're so big ... a lot of chain outs that wouldn't happen with a smaller disc. So I got a polecat.

I find it hard to throw correctly right after throwing standard discs, but I use mine for single disc rounds at the small parks a lot. I have no problem throwing my condor in a regular round, but it flies like a shark for me. The zephyr is most definitely a finesse disc.

Whoa, he putts with these? I might consider throwing a few rounds with the Zephyr to help out with form but I doubt I would putt with one!

I haven't not carried a zephyr and a condor in my bag since I first got them over a year ago.

I completely agree. I picked up both and since then, both have stayed in the bag. I would say I use one of the two about once a round. They are completely utility discs, but their utility is very high in certain situations.

I can't count all the times I was told they were illegal for use when I threw them against guys, and I always love the shocked looks on their faces when I show them the rules.

if i could fit a zephyr in my grip bags i would always carry one
never really clicked with the condor, but i love the zephyr.
(i have 4 of them, including a 148g)

Yep, my only complaint about my Grip is that there's no good way to carry a lid. I personally would carry a Condor for sure and maybe a Zephyr.

How would you guys compare a zephyr to a fresh dx polecat? I'm thinking it would be better for placement Nose up shots since it's wide diameter. I throw finesse better with bigger discs, I have a better feel for power as it leaves my hand. but I'd need the stability to be on par with a frssh polecat. It'd be great, could weird the peeps on the course out even more.

The really tend to fade pretty hard on nose up shots. The massive flight plate catches a lot of air! Just didn't care for it my self, but haven't tried it in a while. As I progress in this game, a revisit to a mold can be a diamond in the rough. I could see it being good for cleaning up form on little up shots. They don't fit well in most bags and prone to massive warp being stuffed into a bag and in the heat.

^ That it does! I brought one out in leagues and someone demanded to see the stamp. It was somehow rewarding to show that I was using a legal disc and then show how it was to be used (parking a 120' upshot on a dead straight line)!

I play superclass and the Zypher is my main disc off the tee. I have a beat heavy and a new heavy (almost temoko stable).
I putt with a 178g superhero though. Mostly because the spits. If its windy I will putt the zypher upside down inside the circle.

I want a blizzard Zyher if anyone is dumping one off.

Very similar discs. I didn't like the size of the Zephyr, so I'm auditioning a Polecat. You can definitely see the Polecat is faster, and doesn't hold a line as long, but they're very similar. I wound definitely not carry both.
