[Putters] Reptilian Disc Golf's First Mold: The Scale (OS P&A)

Classic DaveMac...

I get a text from Dave today telling me that he is tinkering with a Fossil 2.0 formula that he think will be even better.

I swear he doesn't sleep. His thoughts are consumed with polymers, course design and Penn. Station.

The last batch of Fossil turned out fantastic on the Serpents. They were very hard but incredibly "soft" feeling. I hope these turn out similar.

The more time I spend doing fieldwork with Scales, the more I realize they are the right disc for about 80% of my approaches. God they are good. And my oldest couple are now at a really nice solid 0 HSS with only about 1.5 LSF. I can lazerbeam them and expect almost no fade, just a little last minute dump to the left. They have seen a LOT of throws. I've actually cycled in a fresh one for the OS spot and put Wizards back on the shelf.

Oh. Speaking of Scales. MAIL CALL!

Fossil Fuel feels amazing.

Fossil Fuel rules...

My favorite Scale right now is a Gray Fossil Fuel.
It is beat up so that I can throw it flat and the fade will kick in late enough to get some solid distance.

Thank You for reppin the Scale to the fullest :)

Gotta have a blue Fossil Fuel Scale with that sweet X-Ray stamp! Do the Fossil Fuel Scales fly any different from the Fossils?

Negative. They're pretty darn OS to start and season up beautifully.
FF just has a touch more grip and a touch more flex vs. its Fossil counterpart. Basically we just take Fossil and mix in color and a little here/little there to make it a slightly different feel.

Enjoy my friend :)

I know everyone is different, but I can't figure out why people want this disc in anything but Fossil. It's really the perfect putter plastic IMO.

The Scale is hard for me to judge. I have never carried an OS putter before so it is hard to compare it to anything. It is really dependable in the wind, that is for sure. I have two 174's and a 171; the 171 actually had a little more carry for me with the same sort of dependable fade so it was the one I was leaning on, but my daughter stole it to putt with. For her it's that magic disc for her putt like the Warlock is for me; she just gets a cleaner release, less wobble and a true line at the basket than she gets with any other putter.

I'd actually like to get another 170ish Scale, that weight seemed to work better for me. A little more carry is a big deal for the weenie arm!

The Serpent is going to be a better test for me since I can put it up against similar discs. The Scale is still in my bag, though. I can get used to being able to trust a putter in the wind.

I agree(d) about Fossil. Fossil Fuel, it turns out, is rock effing solid too. Just the slightest give under your thumb. And slightly tackier as opposed to Fossil's velvet feel.

Here is what I'd sent a bunch of folks about the Scale:

"The Scale is so ****ing good guys. I've been doing nightly fieldwork in the ark across the street. Especially some lines to about 160' feet, and the Scale kills it. Absolutely ZERO HSS, and virtually glideless. It just sortof dumps to the left when it runs out of steam if you throw it flat, or it will hold a hyzer till something gets in its way. ESPECIALLY if you throw wizards you are a fool not to try one out."

The legendary Three Putt has spoken....

He BAGS the Scale. YOU should too

The legendary Three Putt has spoken....

He WANTS 170-172g Fossil Scales. I do too

See what I did there? :p

I think this mold will be in my bag for a while.

I've had mine in the bag for about a month. It is exactly what I wanted from the rhyno. OS but not utility OS. Low glide. Dependable.

My only gripe is they are deep. I have thrown KC Pros for a while and these feel deeper. Honestly they fly so nice I don't even notice any more.

Fossil plastic is ridiculous. If I could have my mids and putters in only one plastic this is it. If you run Lizards in fossil I'd loose it.

Keep it up. I'd love to have a mid in fossil to cycle.....

THIS! SO MUCH THIS!

The demand for other discs in Fossil is high...for those of use who know about RDG. I suggest buying a few extras and passing them out to friends, or, better yet, use it for league/tag prizes, ace prizes, etc. I've passed out 2 Serps and 3 Scales this way. Everyone loves the molds but few outside of us on the internet know about them.

More people buying Scales/Serps is more money in jcass's (and, therefore, by extension Dave from Gateway's) coffers to make us a mid in Fossil that we so desire.

I actually wouldn't mind a Scale-ish mid with more glide. Hmmmm

I see yellow and orange x-ray FF Scales, were there any blue or red run or are those serpents?

Can't beat that kind of deal when you know you want to head over to reptiliandiscgolf.com and buy yourself a Scale or Serpent!

Fossil Fuel Lizard. Lets make it happen.

I have zero say in the matter, but I would think it would behoove jcass and co. To keep the Fossil and Fossil Fuel blends exclusive to RDG discs. I don't use Wizards, in fact, don't even like them, so it makes me no nevermind, any way you do it.
