Where is the rule that you have to use shitty baseplastics for putting?

There isn't and I never said there was.

That idea is founded more in the whole "what the pros" do sort of thing. And honestly, most of the reasons people do it are so bunk to me anyways. "oh they grab the chains better."

I started in 2010 and didn't even realize there was pro disc golf at the time. I picked up DX discs and putted with DX discs. As I got better and started buying premium plastic I kept buying the base plastic putters because I preferred that feeling plastic when putting.

Do they? Do they really? Cause my premium plastic putters from MVP have no issues grabbing chains.

I used to putt with proton pilots and they grab chains too.

Now could there be some benefit to using electron over premium? Maybe, They are going to react to the chains a tad softer cause the plastic is turd. But MVP overmolds are really really nice. And grab chains just fine.

So, I'll keep putting with my ohms, cause they are awesome.

And. yeah, some people say feel, cool.
It feels like cheap shit to me.
But if it works for you, keep doing that.

MVP is the one brand on the planet you can really say grab the chains the same between base and premium plastic, but that's not why I wouldn't putt with their premium plastics. You don't get the same grip and control from them, for putts. It requires a lot finer control than throwing them, and my fingers slip on neutron, plasma, and proton when I try to get a good spin putt flying.

Yeah, I have almost 0 grip on electron. Neutron grips really good.

I wouldn't say they grab the same. The rim material is definitely different between premium & base plastic MVP discs. (The rim material on base plastic discs is softer.)

usually no issues, but sometimes.
Depends on how wet it is.

I have more issues driving with wet discs than putting with them.

Got my hands on a couple light weight Waves, a fission, and a cosmic neutron. Both agree delightful, but I think I'm going to be leaning on the cosmic neutron the most this season. That extra bit of stability to keep it in check on big drives is so nice...

While I'm sure the Pixel is the greatest P&A disc EVAH, the Ohm is 2/5/0/1 and you don't have to convince yourself that it's not as deep as a soup bowl. No putter plastic but electron sux anyhow.

I have not tried the Ohm, but every putter I have tried with a 5 glide, was way too floaty for me. Pilot, Penny, and a few others. I gave up on 5 glide putters. They 'drift' too far off target on me. The 3-4 glide putters seem to be my sweet spot. Still a small sample size, because I only have one Pixel, but it is matching my best putters right out of the box. On my main course, in four rounds (9 hole rounds) yesterday, I tied my personal best 1 under par, and broke it with a 2 under. Granted, I was already on the edge of improving a bit, but I did it with the Pixel as my main putting putter, first time in the bag, and after using it as 1 of 10 putters in two 1-1.5 hour practice sessions. Also, to be fair, I have been practicing my putting lately, and it may have stepped up regardless of which putter I used, maybe, but the Pixel, after one round to get used to it, it felt really good. I was nailing putts and approaches with it! I see a few more Pixels in my near future so I can put in more work with it, but loving this one so far!

The Wave was my favorite disc for a while, but I gotta say, now I seem to get a decent amount more distance from the Katana, easily, and it makes it hard for me to even bag the Wave. I guess the spot I might bag a Wave for, is being held by a Tern, and maybe partly a Beast, but every longer shot gets a Katana for me. I think I am going to pull out my River and Crave, and replace both with one disc - the Maverick - creating room for a disc - potentially the Wave, but I got to put in some field work to figure it out.

The Watt is stupid far for a 2 speed. It goes well past my Proxy, and into the range of my Comets. It's one of the things I like about it.

Jury still out, but I almost think my Watt used to go far, easily, but as it beat in some, I don't get that easy distance any more. IDK - either that, or maybe I added putters that get distance more easily (like the Fierce), or as my fan grip approach shot changed, it just became better suited to other putters. For several months I could not have survived without the Watt for my putter approach shots, but now the Fierce does that, and early indications are the Pixel may be my main putter and do most approach work too.

My Electron Soft Pixel arrived today. I was worried about the depth, but that, fortunately, turned out to be a non-issue.

I tried some putting and throwing with the Pixel and came right home and ordered another.

I've been putting with SuperGlow SS Wizards. Hand feel is similar, but the Pixel is softer, has better glide, has less LSS, and has a smaller bead. All pluses in my book, since my miss is generally low and left on longer putts.

I've also been bagging a Total Eclipse Envy and a Soft Electron Envy as my throwing putters. The Soft Electron Pixel is just a smidge less stable (both HSS & LSS) than the Soft Electron Envy, which creates better separation from my Total Eclipse Envy. And, the real surprise is that the Pixel is just as long as the Soft Electron Envy. Pretty impressive for a 2-speed, since the Soft Electron Envy gets near midrange distance. The Soft Electron blends also feel different. The Pixel is softer.

It could be new toy syndrome, but Electron Soft Pixels are going to take over both putting and US throwing putter duties when the second one arrives.

Pretty sure I am going to get at least 2-3 more Pixels, and give them full blown testing against my favorites for my main putter, and approach shots as well. So far, I am encouraged in limited use with the one Pixel I have only had for a few days. Liking it for putting and approach both!

Not bad, the extra weight gives it a reliable finish for now, compared to my 167 SE. Kinda low on glide by comparison but same thing it goes as far as you throw it, no extra for me. Makes for a better putter though, bombs pretty straight. I'm gonna have to line up the watt/ohm/pixel later on this week.

Threw my Pixels on some practice drives in the field the other evening, and they were super straight. Watt straight. I didn't have my Watt with me, to compare glide or distance though. Going to be comparing them to the Watt on the course this weekend, to see how they fare in real world use.

I think Pixel is definitely one of the straightest putters I have used, but that is putting, and throwing approach shots with a fan grip. I have not tried power gripping it, as I have never been able to throw any putter well with a power grip. I used to love the Watt as a super straight approach shot putter, but I never liked it much for actual putting. I have now used Pixel three times in back yard putting practice, and bagged as my main putter and approach disc for about 108 holes (9 holes, about 12 rounds), and so far I like it a lot. Only issue I have noticed is a little tendency to drift up high on my putts, but that might be me - I have to be careful not to let it get too nose up. That drift high is not nearly as bad as I had with every 5 glide putter I have tried, and despite it, I think I am doing my best putting. Knocking down more longer putts than I usually do, and seeing it in my scores. I set a new personal best 2 under for nine holes, tied my old 1 under twice, and a few par rounds. All of that is averaging better scores more frequently than my usual. To be fair, I have felt for a little while now on the edge of improvement, but using the Pixel as my main putter and approach disc is a new thing, and I am getting the improvement, too, so it is either helping, or at least definitely not hurting me. Planning for sure to get 2-3 more Pixels very soon. Looked a few times - just haven't done it yet - may go to PIAS again. PIAS sends me coupons pretty regular - hoping for another one ASAP!

Putting: I notice the Pixel goes straight, and goes far easily. It is allowing me to putt from my chest area (forward facing stance) from further out, rather than switching to a more sideways stance and starting my putt from back shoulder/behind me, and that is helping me putt straighter. Getting a better percentage of makes from 25', 30', 35', and I even knocked down a 40' putt, putting from my chest area, yesterday during a round, and I used to switch to a more sideways stance and start my putt further back at about 30'. Feeling more confidence in those 25', 30', and 35' putts for sure - expecting to make them now! LFG!!!

Far easily is an understatement.

I gave it 1 huck and got 325 out of it. Like.. okay.

And it was just straight the whole way.

put a touch of hyzer on it, it hit flat and rode.

Cross wind too, so it was doing all sorts of bouncing around and staying stable.

I'm watching it wondering when it would stop.

Like "okay, its a good disc, dont need to throw it again."


It honestly reminds me of an anode/ion rim with a better core though.

This Pixel is literally gonna be one of the top putters of all time with ease.
