:pSounds like someone needs to go smoke a cigarette!

Ecigs and chewing tobacco...

Guess the MLB is behind on their image, no more dip athletes being paid millions to be watched on TV...

Ok the PDGA is now approved by the Republic of California and DARE...

We all see how well DARE worked.

most of the drug dealers in my state drive with a dare car plate

I had no problem with this right up until the whole no e-cigs thing. That seems overly putative to me; "We know you're addicted to nicotine, and it will impact your play, but we're going to not only keep you from smoking, but we're also going to make sure you don't have the (LEGAL) drug you're hooked on. Good luck!!"

I don't smoke; I've never seen the attraction of shredding a leaf, rolling it in paper, setting fire to it, and sticking it in my mouth (thank you, Bob Newhart). And with my asthma, it's often pretty uncomfortable for me to be around people who are smoking. But outside, I've never had a problem being around smokers. MOST of them are fairly sensitive about smoking around other people, and will ask if I mind if they smoke. And plastic cups and aluminum cans on the course bother me a lot more than cigarette butts ever have; of course, that may just be because of the courses I play.

If it's about policing the course, require smokers to field strip their butts. If it's about second hand smoke, then let them use e-cigs. But if it's all about image, then we probably need to get over ourselves.

I still don't get the melodrama over all of this - it's only during the rounds. We're talking a 4-hour window here. 3 touring pros who each have a legitimate chance to become the next world champion put forth the motion - and one of them is a smoker!

There's literally no platform to stand on and shake your fist from...it's a bunch of bellyaching for bellyaching's sake.

I just think it's funny how people play the "my body needs it to function because I'm addicted to it" card.

Yes, I understand that there is a physiological change in the brain of a person who is addicted to nicotine. The same goes for alcohol. So if someone is an alcoholic, do they have the right to drink wherever they want just because their body needs it? No. They are welcome to drink, but in the privacy of their own home or proper designated areas. Such is the same with smoking. To say that symptoms of withdrawl are putting smokers at a disadvantage is preposterous. Like it or not, smoking is a choice.

^ And what about crackheads? Them not being allowed to smoke crack will affect their play...

If you can't go a few hours without a cigarette, you are weak. Suck it up.

I, for one, would see it as a great sign of dedication to the sport if someone were to quit smoking, or at least take it's banning in stride out of respect.

Buncha whining little maggots. I'd quit smoking if I didn't think I'd become one you.

Take this survey and let the PDGA know how you feel. In the survey, I only put Am worlds because it is my understanding smoking is illegal in the parks where the pro worlds is being held due to risk of forest fires.

Smoking is banned during competition at the 2011 PDGA Pro and Amateur World Championships. Players will not be permitted to smoke from the start of play until the player's scorecard is submitted. Smoking of any kind during competition may result in immediate disqualification and further disciplinary action as stated in the PDGA Competition Manual, Section 3.3 Player Misconduct. If you have any questions please contact the PDGA Tour Manager.

Update for anyone who cares:

1. Do you agree with the PDGA on the smoking ban at Am Worlds?
answered - 88

Yes 42% (37)
No 58% (51)

2. Should the PDGA have that much control over these decisions without the membership approval?
answered - 87

No 70% (61)

I'm a smoker...

HAHA DEAL WITH IT! :|

are you telling other smokers to suck it up and deal with it, or me to deal with your smoking? I don't have a problem with smoking, even no the course. My problem is people whining about the rule acting like they have been violated, "WHAAA I can not go 3 hours without a cigarette!"
