Here we go kiddies, I'm a bit behind on the planning stages but this year's event will be held Saturday August 1. Same as before the tournament is held at Silver Lake Park in Highland, IL. Last year I changed the format a bit, the city let me use the entire park and I added an extra 9 holes for one round of 27. If you've played the course before but haven't seen the 9 additional holes then you missed out. Good news is we will be playing that layout again this year.
Bring your own partners best shot. Since it's tough to group teams into divisions with 3 players we play one huge division. Net proceeds are donated to the Gateway chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Since this is a fundraiser payout is pretty minimal (usually some merch for the first handful of teams). Entry is $25 per person and includes a custom stamped disc. This year I'll have wizards, a variety of Innova, and a variety of Discmania. There will be an optional $2 ace pool, which will be split if multiple aces are hit. If nobody aces we'll throw off for the pot, winner takes half and the other half is donated. There will be an optional raffle after the round, with tickets being $5 or 3 for $10. Lunch will be provided after the round. I typically have either a CTP or longest putt prize per hole, which anybody can win.
New this year, any juniors 17 and under or any women playing will receive 2 discs with entry instead of 1. The field will be capped at 54 teams of 3, and the past few years we've averaged right around 120 players. So the best way to make sure you have a spot is to let me know in advance. You can message me here and I'll get you on the list. This is an unsanctioned event, so you do not need to be a PDGA member to play, or pay the extra non PDGA member fee.
Tee off will be at 9, and I typically get to the course really early to set up. So we'll say registration will begin 7:30ish. It's usually pretty hot, and the back 9 isn't nearly as shaded and quite a bit longer, so make sure to stay hydrated.
If you live a couple of hours away this is a fun event to attend, a lot of people in the St Louis area say it's their favorite event of the year. 3 man best shots means no laying up, it's a lot of fun to run and gun at everything. I'm not quite sure which pin placements I want to use yet, once I decide I'll post them up.
