Glaring omission in the top 10

BOP is going to be open on the 10th of this month. If you guys want to make it out to CA you can come see what all the hype is about.

... Just make sure to let Caleb know.

Do you ever see Flip City falling out of the top 5? I've never played it so I can't weight in myself, but the pics on this site don't convey the legendary status it holds.

Well... Both Selah courses will push it down to #3 and then it's just two more courses. It could happen. BOP and if Flyboy is listed again. Or another private course emerging.

The next generation of courses is more than Flip is. But Flip isn't there because it's a phenomenal course, it's just a great course with a phenomenal scene, it may be able to hold it's notoriety for a while, but IMO courses in the future, with more and more great private courses pushing the envelope, I believe the top 10 list will look a lot different 5-10 years from now. Highbridge courses and Maple Hill have holding potential...

Check out the review Maple Hill just got, knocked it out of the top 10 too

Yeah, the review is complete garbarge. It will probably get pulled soon. Nice to see that the reviewer (badgerfan73) has pretty much ensured that he'll never be allowed to play any private course in the country with an attitude like that.

There must be more to the story, Steve, fill us in?

Sounds like he didn't play the entire course, the review could be removed for that reason alone couldn't it?

Yeah if he didn't play it all he should be removed. Not because of the ratings (everyone knows Maple Hill is the sh!t already). Frankly, it sounds like these guys were doing something they shouldn't have been and got caught, then decided to post a highly negative review as vengeance.

It's private property. You sign a waiver for insurance. You can have the best intentions in the world and a million bucks in your pocket, they broke the rules, didn't play the whole course, and were rightfully kicked out. They weren't minding their own business, they were breaking the rules of maple hill's business. Invalid review.

So does anyone know the rules to playing maple hill so we can update the course info page? It should say something like, 'must check in at pro shop and sign waver prior to play or you will be escorted off property'

From the NEFA forums

I'll just say we have three rules:
1. Sign in and pay.
2. No glass bottles out on the course.
3. Don't burn the place down.

I was thinking the same thing. I had no idea it was private property from reading the course page. Perhaps it should be marked as such? That might be abundantly clear when you arrive. If so, the owners have the right to be mad and kick them out.

Flip City will stay in the top 10 as long as Bill continues to be involved.
By "next generation of courses" that are "more than Flip is", I guess you mean longer layouts for the advanced/pro level player.
News flash; most players are rec/int/novice...otherwise Leviathan would be in the top 10 instead of Flip City right now.

It isn't about length ;)

It is about multiple shot holes. Par 4 and 5. Yes the holes may be longer but the use of landing zones makes them speical. A 550' hole where a 320' tee shot gives an easier upshot than a 400' tee shot.

This^^.

I have always wanted to see a design like this in DG, and when I saw one, I was extremely happy. I wish there was a par 67+ course closer than 4hrs away.

Selah has a set of tees that are only 6300', yet par 69. I have played par54 courses close to that length.

What I thought was nice about Selah was how obtainable that par of 69 was.

I'm in the opposite camp I guess. I haven't played Selah, but I like to see courses where par is a huge accomplishment.
