So we teed off and 2 of our foursome went out of bounds. We decided to re-throw from the tee. If you tee off a second time because you went out of bounds do you add the first tee off, second tee of AND the penalty stroke? In other words are you lying 2 throwing 3? Or does your second tee shot count as your penalty?

the other 2 players threw out of bounds on the back 9 so it was all a wash, but we need to know for next time.

I found this rule, but am not sure if it applies.

803.02.B -- Optional Re-throw. A player may elect at any time to re-throw from the previous lie. The original throw plus one penalty throw shall be counted in the player's score.

you play from where the disc was last in bounds, unless it is stroke and distance than you re throw. But you always have the option to rethrow no matter what. Weather you throw from where it was last in bounds or if you rethrow. Your shot will be your 3rd shot.

You can re-tee with a penalty stroke at any time on any throw! No other penalties or additional stroke(s) added!
P.S. You've been playing 34+ years & this is the first time you've gone OB?
