Acorn ehh... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 12, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Holes 3, 4 and 7 are Great! The rest of the course is decent with lots short shots and birdies to be had.

Cons:

The baskets suck!

Other Thoughts:

Love holes 3, 4, 7 I can care less about the rest of the course. Beginner friendly.

New Acorn Layout Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Brand new, large, concrete tee pads, Brand new King Pin baskets. A few of the new holes add some new lines and variety. New signage is nice.

Cons:

I went to Acorn after the remodel with no bias. Acorn was never a favorite course of mine, just a solid course nearby. As great as the new tee pads and baskets were needed I was looking for a little more out of the course redesign. Holes 1-7 I thouroughly enjoyed, with some new lines and interesting holes. But then 8-15 were all 150-200 foot holes that lack any character. Also I feel a lot of money was spent on short tee pads for holes that are 200 ft long making short pads pointless. This money could have been spent on more landscaping which is severely lacking on this course. Also some of the holes remained the same except for moving the basket 20 ft to make the shot straighter.

Other Thoughts:

All in all my only issue with this course is holes 8-15. Just plain boring. I think the course would have been better served just adding the new tees, baskets and signs, and doing some landscaping instead of making layout changes.
