EPIC! Best course in the world! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 8, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Phenomenal! Stunningly beautiful course, great shot variety required (mix of par 3s, 4s, 5s). Tops of elevation change. Mix of open and tight holes. Clean fairways, well maintained, great flow.

Pro shop, gracious hosts, good facilities.

Virtually every hole on the course would be a "signature hole" somewhere else. There are no "filler holes" or B-list shots, and virtually no holes that are even similar to other holes. Every hole feels distinct and unique.

Land also has another amazing 18 hole course that's shorter/easier (but equally well designed) and a great 6 hole par-2 warm-up course.

This is a "pro" course for sure. You need probably 350' of fairway distance to be able to play this course as it was intended. But it's so beautiful and well designed, I think everyone should try it.

Cons:

The only con for me is that it's in Sweden, so I don't know if I'll ever get to play it again. But it's worth the effort to get there. If you're on the fence, go. If you only get to play one course in Sweden, go!

Other Thoughts:

I can't say enough about this course. I've played ~300 courses in the US and Sweden, disproportionately weighted towards top-tier (4+ star) courses, including half of the "top 20" courses on DGCourseReview. This course beats them all!

Ran into KJ Nybo on the course and played through with him for a while. He said it was his favorite course in Europe, with Konopiste the only other comparable course (and since Konopiste is only open for tourneys, most of us will never have a chance to see it); that recommendation should carry a lot of weight.

I have confidence that with time and more exposure, Ale Discgolfcenter will be regarded as the BEST disc golf destination in the world! Kudos to Jonas and his wife for designing and maintaining a love letter to the sport of disc golf!

Close to perfection 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 27, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Beatiful setting and very well planned course. Both open and narrow holes in a good mix. You need to be on top of your game to beat this course.
The course is built and carved out to be as good as possible, not just placed where surroundings allow and it shows!
Do not miss this if you are on the westcoast of Sweden

Cons:

Might be tricky to reach without car, But not impossible

Other Thoughts:

The whole area with two courses, driving range, putting area, store and surrounding buildings leave little to wish for.

Pro Caliber Disc Golf Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

First Time I rate a course with the perfect grade. But I had no other choice. I can't wait for the fairways to have more grass and it'll be perfect.

Legitimate pars on every hole.
A real par 5, you need three perfect shots and a putt to birdie it. Great mix between wooded and open holes.

A must go if you are near Göteborg.

Hole 12 is #discgolfporn.

Every shot is needed to beat this course.

Par is usually rated 980.

Cons:

You need a car to get there, almost impossible to reach by Public Transports. Don't hesitate to ask local to give you a ride, they'll do it !!!

Might be difficult for Int/Rec level players. But you still have the Gold course.

Other Thoughts:

Stay on the fairway or you could have a bad time, pitch out if necessary :).

Aiming high 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 1, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a huge course where the designers Camilla and Jonas aim to develop one of the best championship courses in the world.

Most course designers need to adjust to the local surroundings and place the holes where there are natural gaps. This is not the case in Ale where most holes have been "carved out" in the forest and all stumps have been removed to allow grass to grow.
