Pros:

Very Clean simple course
Great course to learn how to play
DGA Mach 3 baskets

Cons:

Too easy for advanced players
Not enough shot variety

Other Thoughts:

One of the best courses to learn how to play, however hole 17 plays over water about 200+ feet.

Pros:

Open layout, forgiving, fairly nice park overall.

Cons:

Not the most interesting layout.

Other Thoughts:

We had a hard time finding the first hole. There is a phone app but bad reception - load the course map before you get there.

Can I Buy A Tree? 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 18, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

(1.788 Rating) (REVISED - replayed August 2019) An insanely wide open layout that will be welcoming to Beginners and Novice level players.
BEGINNER FRIENDLY - Due to only a few overgrowth areas and also just a one substantial water hazards in play, this would be an ideal course to bring a beginner to. That said, hole (17) may need to be skipped by the newest of the new. The course is probably also nice for Novice players.
QUICK PLAY - I think the course plays really quick for an 18. I did both my round here solo in just over 45 minutes. I think this will translate into 90 minutes for a group of 4 seasoned players.
- FUN FACTOR - I think the best aspect of Arab DGC is the easy going feel. As mentioned, few hazards and little overgrowth. There are lots birdie opportunities for Novice players and ace runs for skilled players. A few opportunities to air them out for players that max at 350 or shorter.
- CHARACTER - About average but with some nice touches. First I'll mention the metal box by tee one which has had free scorecards/map and pencils on both my visits. There is also a rules of the game posting and a practice basket nearby as well. Tees signage is adequate for this open layout and it has distance and par designation. I'll also note that some of the distances on the tee signs are off by as much as 30 feet. The baskets are in great shape. The biggest lacking factors are tees, which are mostly natural with a few carpet pads. There is no tee seating.
- NAVIGATION - One of the easiest courses to navigate that I've ever played on the first round. The free scorecard/map has a lot to do with that.
- ROOM TO MODIFY - I checked Google maps and couldn't help but notice that the park has some unused completely wooded areas on the south-east portion of the park. There's enough room to carve six fully wooded 300 footers. I had heard rumors in early 2019 that they were going to put some holes in these woods, but no changes as of this August 2019 update.

Cons:

Skilled players will not like this course.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - Recreation players who are able to throw 275 feet should have no problem breaking par on this course. Advanced players that mistakenly venture here should probable be able to throw rounds below 40. There are a few tee shots over 300 feet, but there are even more tee shots that are 200 feet or less. Only five tee shots have a tree in play!
- LACK OF SHOT SHAPING - With the extent of the openness you can expect a round with very little thought process on the tee. Most holes I just looked at the hole distance, and then quickly grabbed a disc and threw. Way too many holes can be attacked from every angle.
- WIND - I lucked out, hardly any wind both days I came out here. But considering the openness , I'd bet that it's not an uncommon occurrence.
- LITTLE ELEVATION - The site in not flat by any means but just about all the elevation change here is gradual. Figure the most any one hole changes is 15 feet with the slope angle never exceeding 10 degrees, except along the pond banks. The course however should be great for disc golf carts.
- UNIQUENESS - In addition to little elevation, the overall variety is pretty bad. As stated above, way too many open plays. There is water in play on a couple shots, but it would take a major error to drop one in. No par 4s or 5s and the longest holes max out at around 350 feet.
- RAW BEAUTY - The upkeep at the park appears to be solid. The gentle slope of the open fields and a few water features adds to some appeal. but again, the biggest issue is the lack of trees. Please plant some trees Arab Park's Department.

Other Thoughts:

Arab DGC has a very limited appeal. Novice and Recreation players that like coddling courses will might like this course. Also a great place to introduce the sport to another or for newer players in general as the layout is about as forgiving as they get. Players that prefer even just a modest amount of technical challenge will have to go elsewhere. There is just nothing here that gets the imaginative juices flowing. Overall I'd give the course a 1.75 if we rated by quarters.
