Avoca DGC plays in Eddington Memorial Park, just east of Avoca, IA. A nice multi-use park, the disc golf shares its area with a couple of shelters (not really in play), an historic schoolhouse building, and a walking path. The only other person I saw in the park was at the pool, so very quiet, but mid-day on a Friday, could be more traffic on the weekends. I had a little trouble locating the first tee (added that info and a map), and eventually jumped in at tee #7, which was closest to parking. Nice large tee pads shoot towards nice Mach V baskets in a red/orange (easy to spot.) #7 did have a Mando tree to go left of, annoying for the RHBH, not an issue for RHFH. Course has minimal elevation and a usual park style number of trees to work around. Only 2 blind shots with #3 tucked in behind some trees on the right, and #4 is a left curve around the schoolhouse (Don't throw at the basket you see, it's #7). Flow was OK, the map will help. No signage is the knock here. Could do with a bench or trash can as well (although the park was clean and well mowed). If you need to stretch your legs while heading across on I-80, it's about a mile into town off the interstate and less than a mile from the turn in town out across the river to the park. I parked near the basketball court. Not a destination, but a nice stop. I might play again, if in the area.

Stopped by on my way through town, and was glad I did. This is a really well thought out course in a quaint small town park. Every hole requires you to execute an actual golf shot...there are no wide open "throw whatever line you want" holes. Trees and other obstacles are well used to create low ceilings, mandos, and other fun lines. Also, on a mid-50's sunny day in the spring there were only 4 people total at the park, so this is a course that doesn't appear to get excessively busy.

The baskets are brand new Mach 5's, and the tee pads are concrete and in great shape. Added bonus: someone was smart enough to spray paint the hole number on every tee pad, which means all baskets and pads are easy to identify.

Only 9 holes, and of those holes at least half are under 250'. No elevation changes. This is basically a pitch and putt course.

This is about as perfect as a little pitch and putt course can get. It's hard to rate a super short 9 hole course higher than 3*, but this little gem has great infrastructure and a really fun layout. I highly recommend it as a quick warm up course if you're planning on heading to the nearby Sunnyside course in Atlantic, IA.
