Course that shares space with 6 hole golf course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

There were nine baskets in great shape.

There were nine cement tee pads.

Area was well mowed and maintained, mostly flat.

Cons:

There were no tee signs at all. Nothing was written on the pads either.

There was no direction after you finished one basket as to where the next tee pad was, and there are no tee signs to help aid you in your search.

It shares space with the golf course, and people playing both sports continually get in on another's way.

Other Thoughts:

If you are there alone the course would get a 3.5 rating. If you were there with a few groups and you were all playing disc golf, I would give it a 3 rating. But the golfers don't seem to care about people throwing discs and you are always right in the middle of some golfer's fairway. It honesly felt dangerous sharing this course with two golfers. Some of the tee shots for me were across two golf greens, so you know balls were coming your way.

The no tee signs which caused a lack of direction was a real negative for me (all the golf tees had signs and trash cans, not the disc golf)

A Good Start 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 26, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Concrete Tees
-Good Baskets
-Good upkeep on grounds

Cons:

-No tee signs or map (yet)
-Flow was a little tricky at first
-Couple of Mandos could get tricky
-Could be prone to flooding, near Black Hawk Creek

Other Thoughts:

Beech Nut DGC is located on the Beech Nut Golf Course in Hudson, IA. For now, it is a hybrid course of the two as the baskets and tee pads were just added in the spring of 2020. The ball golf course is 6 holes, but the 9 holes of disc golf works mostly around the other.Play is mostly open with hole #3 tucked back in an alcove of trees on the right, hole #6 protected by a couple of trees and hole #7 that plays across a green and is protected by a line of trees. Water comes into play to the right on hole #5 teeing off near the creek with a couple of mando trees to split. Hole #6 plays over a small stream and hole #8 has a mando tree to stay right of about halfway down the fairway. Recent rains had waterlogged #3 and #9 to unplayable. Being next to Black Hawk Creek could make that happen regularly. No tee signs or benches, but that may be to come with the newness of this course. These additions would add to the rating. In drier conditions, I would enjoy playing again.
