#Grow The Sport Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A nine-hole youth course designed to introduce disc golf to the middle school and elementary school students on the grounds that the course sets on. It will definitely be a more putt and approach course for most other players. The course sits in a small pretty little nature area with large oaks and a rolling hill. There are nine decomposed granite 4x8 tee pads and nine T1 Prodigy baskets, one of the best baskets on the market IMO. There are downhill and uphill shots and the course does require a good selection of shots, for its size. The course is fairly technical but short and control is an absolute must or what should be an easy two can quickly turn into a four. Every hole is an ace potential but OB may make players rethink running it. Navigation and signage were quite good with markers underneath every basket to tell you where to go next.

Cons:

There is no hole over 200 feet so obviously no real need for drivers. While more experienced players can definitely use this course to polish their putting and upshot games, they will probably tire of this course and move on rather quickly.
The decomposed granite tee pads are not the greatest, but they do the job of marking the tee area and it's not like with the distance you need a runup.
Obviously, with this being on a school campus, the limited playability time is also a serious con. Weekdays after 3 p.m. and on the weekends or when school is not in session.

Other Thoughts:

This course is very limited by the size of the land and the design really reflects that with very short holes.
This course is definitely designed for children. It is a great "#Grow the Sport" course, a "Children Are The Future" course and it will help create and develop new players.

One Final Note: This course is in the very back of the schools and it is easier rather than walking across the entire campus to either park on the street on the road in the back of the school or in the Cameron Park Library parking lot and start the course from hole 8.
