For the most serious of players. Or for those who have never thrown before. 2+ years

Pros:

There could be worse things than playing a short, scenic courses in the South Carolina mountains. It's meant for serving as another activity at this retreat center rather than catering to advanced players.
- Short, putter course. If any hole is longer than 175 - 200 feet, then I really have lost my ability to estimate hole lengths. Majority are 150 feet or less.
- For a short, simple course, there are a couple of decent layouts. #2 might be the best as it requires the most skill. A blind, open tee shot to a gap in the woods, leading to a downhill basket. Very easy to sail a disc long and/or have to search for a disc.
- #3 & 5 are straight ahead, uphill shots. If you want to make runs at the basket, two good candidates here.
- #7 & 8 are downhill shots that could/should lead to 2s. Too much air or an overly aggressive throw and you run the risk of a disc sailing deep into the woods.
- Course is relatively easy to navigate. Tee are marked by easily recognizable hole markers. It took me a minute to locate the correction direction to throw on #2. Once I found that, the next seven holes were a breeze.

Cons:

Course doesn't get much attention or upkeep. There was a downed tree across the fairway on #7. Fairways and paths could stand to be cleared out more.
- The worst culprit is #9. Your fairway is over top of some overgrown shrubs/plants. They need a good cutdown session to make it easy to throw and/or actually see the basket.
- Concerning the issue with #2's tee and fairway. There's a simple marker for #2's tee. There were four clear openings/routes that could have served as the fairway - essentially any of the paths/walkways could be the fairway. I walked all four and didn't see the basket. Finally, walking back to the tee, I saw a slight opening in the woods, looked down it, and viola, a basket.
- If you're playing while on a retreat, a couple holes are in common areas (#1 & 2) or overlap with paths.
- Course is far from, well, everything. It's a 15 minute drive just to get back to SC-11. There's one convenience store there. You're 30 - 40 minutes or so from the closest towns such as Easley or Brevard.

Other Thoughts:

Camp McCall is good for serving as an activity at a retreat center. It's not seeking much more than that.
- Course is private and requires prior approval to play. It's limited to play outside of when groups/retreats are using the camp.
- Even once you show up, the course isn't the easiest to find. I was walking around trying to find it before one of the camp employees drove me up to the first tee.
- Location is amazing. Some great views and a great drive up a winding mountain road.
- I spent more time here walking and being driven to the first tee than I did actually playing. Once I started, I was done in 15 minutes. Sure I could have played a second time, but, I had my fill one time through.
- Here's what you need to know about this course. One of the camp workers I came across while I was trying to find the course had no clue there was a course here. I described it and he was able to take me to one of the yellow cages he recalled seeing.
- This is a bagger's course and nothing more. You're a serious disc golf addict if you're making a trip out of your way to play here. Guilty as charged!!
