Time to snuff out this candle

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 25, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

This place is on a very narrow strip of grass that plays up and down a small hill over and over. It seems no one uses this part for disc golf so you could have the place to yourself for safari rounds or to play the main layout if you desire. Discatcher baskets are all working and navigation is easy, not sure why previous reviewers were having a difficult time.

Cons:

It plays up the hill for both 1 and 2 and then down the hill for 3. After that up the hill for 4, down for 5, down for 6. Basically every hole on the course plays the same fairway. The layout of playing up then down then up again on top of itself is kind of insane. I think I would have kept holes 1 and 2, then had two more holes that shoot down the hill and back to the car to make a little 4 hole course which is most likely the way you would draw it up when playing safari out here.

This neighborhood looks super sketchy. This is the first course I've played in Idaho with graffiti and vandalism everywhere. I could see the car from every corner of the course and still felt uneasy about leaving it there. There are still a few tee signs but the rest have been destroyed/removed. I'm shocked the baskets still exist out here frankly. Tiny little tee pads that have lumps in them, it's best to throw from the grass.

Other Thoughts:

Skip this course and play one of the better, more kept up courses around Twin Falls. This place is weird, scary and ready to have a bullet put in it. Come to think of it probably many gunshots have been heard in this area. Even if you're a desperate course bagger like myself it's a tough sell to stop here. The best roads in Jerome are the ones leading out!

When You Can't Find Your Way Around A 6 Hole Course? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Candlelight Park is a fairly long but narrow little park. The park has somewhat of a slope from the top to the far end. The baskets are brand new Discatchers with the yellow band. There were small rubber mats for tee pads and no signs as of yet.
With no signs and no map, I was left to figure out the layout by myself. I'm not sure if I ever got it right.
I started at the lower end near the parking lot and played to the basket by the middle lot?
# 2 basket is then about 250' up the park with the street just six on your left.
I couldn't find any pad for # 3 but then found a very faint painted mark on the BB court and played to the basket at the very top end of the park.
Then up in this corner I found two tee pads just a few feet from one another. I'm confused! But I just played them both at the same time as 4 and 5 and threw to two baskets halfway down the park. There is a fence on your left with nasty rough and water that will eat many a hyzer discs from the beginners who might be playing this course.

Cons:

I think you're probably just going to have play this course as a Safari layout.
Being such a small, narrow park, beginners will have a difficult time keeping their discs in play. I see lot's of discs flying over the fence on 4-5.
Needs signs badly.
Short and only 6 holes.
Loud barking dogs in neighbor's yard. Keep em chained up, lady!

Other Thoughts:

I almost always enjoy these little beginner courses stuck in some neighborhood park. If the navigation issues could be addressed, this would be a fun little throw, especially for beginners or children. But until some kind of signage is put up, I found it to be mostly a waste of time.
It does make for a very quick 20 minute round and an easy score for a course-bagger such as myself.

Note: I'll be glad to add another .5 to my rating if signs are ever installed.

Fun Little Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Jerome's only Disc Golf Course!
This is a good course for beginners or just for practice.
It is a fun little course.
Easy to replay.

Cons:

Short.
Potential for lost discs in people's back yards or in the neighboring field.
Loud barking dogs.

Other Thoughts:

The way the tee-pads are situated you can easily change the hole you are aiming for and make this more than a 6 hole course.
