Great Course for West Texas 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 30, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This was one of the most well laid-out and navigable courses I've played. Nice concrete tees for both rec and pro players were well marked by metal sign posts and the tees were marked in paint with the hole number, the distance, and a small arrow pointing in the direction of the basket.

Street signs point to hole #10, and there are even signs to warn park-goers of flying discs.

There are plenty of trees to provide a little bit of shot difficulty but not so many as to make it frustrating for newer players.

A few holes have elevation changes of a few tens of feet, making your drives a little more interesting than throwing across a flat open expanse like most of West Texas.

With the other aforementioned terrain comes a small creek running through the center of the park that caught more than one of my shots on my last round. However, both discs were still retrievable in the shallow depths.

The park itself is well maintained. Ants/bugs were never a problem and I never noticed any trash lying around.

Cons:

Parking near the first tee is a bit limited, but there is more throughout the park.

There are no benches near the tees, and a few holes approach areas with a higher number of park-goers (i.e. baseball field, playground, etc.). The walk from hole #9 to hole #10 is a little long, but like the rest of the course is easily navigated.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, I was very impressed with this course seeing as how it's in a smaller town than the close city of Lubbock. Although smaller, it competes with the nicer courses in the city quite easily, and has already become a favorite for me. Well worth the 30 minute drive from Lubbock and worth a break in your trip if your close enough to knock out a round.

Pros:

This course was awesome. They have a map by the parking lot, and lots of trashcans. One of the best features about this course is the effort the designers put into the tee pads. There was 2 sets of tees, a rec tee and a pro tee. The white tees were pros and the red tees are for rec. Each tee has a sign next to it. The tee pads have each number on the pad, the distance, and an arrow pointing toward the basket. Each basket has a red painted loop( that holds the chains) to point toward the next tee pad. The course is so easy to navigate, there is a big gap from 9's basket to hole 10. But it is not a problem because there are two street signs pointing you in the right location. Also holes 4 and 6 had a nice bridge to get across the steep dried creek. The tee pads and baskets are in excellent condition. There was little to no trash throughout the course. There is a good mix of right/lefty holes, and a good mix of short and longer holes.

Cons:

Hole 5 is close to a playground which is dangerous.Tee signs are always a bonus. No benches, but I came to play the course not sit on a bench so not a problem for me.

Other Thoughts:

The course makes you hit a line but it is not too tight. I had a really good time at this course, One reason I rated the course so high was because the designers made it enjoyable because of the excellent tee pads/ baskets. It is also easy to navigate. The course is not too challenging, but it was a lot of fun. Some of my favorite holes include hole 1 and 9.

Pros:

Soooooooo easy to navigate this course. Whoever though of those red and white markers on the baskets is a genius. There a lot of shade and no exreme thorny rough (as someone who plays is south texas I like not have extremerough). This was the third course I'd played this day so I played the shorts and slayed this course which probably adds to it high rating. I just really enjoyed the mix of open holes and canopy shots. Also lots of really really fun downhill shots. Got to bomb a few 500' shots with the wind and elevation. All the singange and course equipment was in good shape.

Cons:

A lot of walking.

Other Thoughts:

If you are passing near here play this course. Its worth the time.

Nice Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 1, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very well maintained course. Good Elevation change throughout the course, and great baskets and teepads. The teepads have hole number distance and arrow showing hole direction. Good mix of long and short holes. Easy to navigate if you pay attention to arrows on the baskets pointing to the next holes.

Cons:

Course is sometimes to wide open, and also some holes are just plain straight shots which can become boring.

Other Thoughts:

Course has a very good bathroom.

Pros:

This is a challenging course. Lots of birdiable holes from the recs from #1 thru #9 and you better get em because your gonna need them from #10 thru #18 to keep your score down. The Whites are very challenging and will test all of your shot capabilities. Lots of time spent on design and tee boxes. And it shows! Very Nice!

Cons:

Nothing really bad about this course. No Local Presence Yet? But im sure it will come though. They have a sweet Disc Golf Course Right Under Their Noses!!

Other Thoughts:

Just played Tournament there and it was run smoothly and Professionally. Alot of time was spent on the course by the City Of Brownfield and Others. Great Job!

Pros:

Really good course. Nice mixture of long and shorter shots with obstacles. I really enjoyed playing this course and will continue to return.

Cons:

Back 9 has a lot of sticker, but this can be delt with by next spring. If the coure gets a ot of water the back nine will be hard to play unless there are some crossing built in.

Other Thoughts:

I recommend this course to other players. New players that want to play a course that is a little more challenging need to try this out. Great job!
