I play this course every time I have to go to Rochester for medical appointments. It's close to Hwy 52, and sits in a community park. There are facilities at the campground pool area that you could probably use, although I've never tested that theory.

The signature hole is #11, over the Zumbro river next to a covered bridge (which you cross to reach the tee). It's a RHBH hyzer, blind to the basket, and a very nice par to make.

While most of the course is open, #14 asks you to make a left turn into a wooded basket, adding some interest. Trees have been planted to make #15 a tunnel shot, but they will need a few more years to yield that effect.

Baskets are newish/good. Apparently this used to be a 9-hole course, but there are 18 now. Plays quickly—seems never to be crowded.

No signage or tee boxes. The latter are supposedly in progress, but I see no evidence of it at this point. If they could get this project done, it would help immensely.

It's a good town course in an area without a lot of nearby options. I think a 2 star review is harsh. Let's hope the town follows through on concrete tee boxes (and adds signage).


Addendum:

I played another 36 at Covered Bridge again today. I try, in my reviews, to see a course not only as it is, but as it will be. In this case, I had high hopes for this course in light of rumored plans to add concrete tees.

Those hopes were dashed cruelly today. While concrete has been added, tees have not. The course has reintroduced what apparently were hole markers for the old course, complete with faded paint, wrong-way arrows, and incorrect numbering. Do not think tee box here, think "grave marker", in some cases rising a couple inches above level ground, forcing you to tee from the grass on the side.

I think the town of Zumbrota messed this up, and I hope that they will still make it right. Other than the river-crossing hole, this is a no-frills course, and as of 9/11/23 there seems to be no serious effort toward decent tees or (any) signage.

+All tees are marked with a concrete slab and some basic info painted on.
+Decent place for beginners to learn how to throw. A few holes would be a bit long for them but not too intimidating.
+Shouldn't lose a disc here although there is a bit of rough around 4,5,6.
+A few ace run opportunities and a few longer holes like 4 and 6. Decent variety for a city park.

-Holes 1 and 2 are basically the same hole. Both give you good opportunity to throw onto the campground road.
-You probably should take a picture of the map at the start because navigation isn't great otherwise. The concrete slabs marking tees are ground level and hard to see from the previous basket.
-Hole 3/4 and 8/9 play pretty close to each other in opposite directions. Watch out for anybody throwing those holes.
-Camper dump station plays way too close to 9's basket. Made me throw very cautious on what might have been a fun hole.
-Tees are dirt and could use an upgrade.
-More signage would be nice on the baskets that you can't see.
-Hole 7 plays around the baseball dugout. Not my favorite hazard.

+I had some fun here. I would have had more fun without looking for concrete slabs in the grass. This course is like many that were put in during the early disc golf craze and now needs a bit of an upgrade. Disc golf is low maintenance but not no maintenance.
+The covered bridge is just down the path from hole 5's tee. It is worth checking out while at Covered Bridge Park.

When I have been here, the course has not been busy, but I have only played during the day on week days. There is a decent mix of long and short holes here with lengths varying from 170' to 480'. Tees are marked with concrete slabs in the ground with the hole number and distance painted on. Most tee shots are wide open, so you can get some practice shaping your shots without having to worry about losing a disc. The park is very well kept, and there are a lot of other activities close by, such as beach volleyball, a playground, camping, and trails.

Most of the holes are pretty simple, and even though there is a mix of lengths, holes 1-3 are all 250'. This would not be a big deal if they had mixed them in throughout the course. As always, it would be nice to see another 9 holes, but I don't think they have the space to add more. I'm not sure if they plan to add tee pads in the future, but they currently are just grass. The concrete slabs are nice, but some of them are difficult to see. It would be nice to have something above ground marking the tees. As always with small parks, there is a potential for overlap with other activities. A trail cuts through the course, the playground is just across the street, the street itself, and there is a backstop for a ball field in front of the basket on hole 7. The field doesn't look like it has been used for baseball/softball in quite some time but who knows when someone will want to use it.

Overall this is a good course to learn on. With mainly wide open tee shots you can work on your game without having to worry about losing discs.
