Pros:

Door Creek church is home to a fairly beginner friendly 9 hole course that wraps around the property, starting and ending near the basketball hoop on the NW side of the parking lot.

The course has beautiful new red banded Innova Discatchers. These are all mounted nicely and at the proper height. They catch and look great. One basket and pin position per "hole". There's also a practice basket located near the lot between hole 1 and 9's basket. No complaints about these.

The course is permanent and free to play. I'd assume it's frowned upon to play when church is in session, but otherwise good to go the rest of the time. I highly doubt it's ever busy out here too.

The grounds have been in great shape on each of my visits. It's also only a few minutes off of I-94 if you're looking for a quick round.

Cons:

No tee pads or signs. You basically just play from basket to basket. This works fine for the most part. You will need to walk across the entrance road and pick a spot to tee from for hole 5 though. This is the easiest way to do it. The Udisc map has you doing much more walking than necessary for no extra benefit.

There's literally not a SINGLE tree out here. None. It's completely wide open for the whole round. The tree line at the edge of the property can come into play on hole 9 I guess. But from 8's basket to 9's basket it's wide open. You'd have to pull your drive to find these.

Speaking of hole 9, and 8 to a lesser extent. The basket for 9 is pretty close to the neighboring yards to the east. If it's windy or with a bad drive you could easily find these. It would seem to make more sense to put that basket where the practice basket currently is. It would end you closer to where you're likely to tee off for hole 1 and avoid any police calls.

Other Thoughts:

This is your typical WI church type of course. Nine baskets that wrap around the property. No unique or even signature holes, no direction, etc. The lone reason I played here again was because I made the mistake of not reviewing it when I took pictures for it. It was also on the way to a day trip down to Madison.

It's worth a play if you're near here, once, but you're better off playing literally any other nearby course over this one. If it's as windy as it was both times I've been here, normally, it's not even a good beginner course. Play it to check it off the list if you need to, otherwise avoid.

Course opened in 2021 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course opened for play during 2021. The course is located on the Door Creek Church property. The church keeps the property mowed. There is a practice basket located on the northeast side of the parking lot. There are no signs or tee pads as of 5-31-2021, so the location of the practice basket can be used as the starting point of the course. Each basket has a number. Basket #1 is located in the northeast corner of the property and is visible from the practice basket. There are no hills on this course to block the view of the next basket from the previous basket. The course has a good flow that follows the perimeter of the property and makes it easy for the player to figure out what basket to throw to next. This is a great course for beginners because there are no water hazards, no trees to block shots, and no areas where a disc will become lost.

Cons:

As of 5-31-2021, there are no tee pads and there are no signs. Without the tee pad and sign, the player will need to stand near the previous basket and throw towards the next basket, with the exception of basket #5, which is not visible from basket #4. For basket #5, the player will need to walk from basket #4 , past the church building, and to the large church sign near the entrance of the parking lot. The player can then throw from next to the sign to avoid hitting the sign or the building. Experienced players may not like the course because of the lack of trees, hills, or water hazards.

Other Thoughts:

The church building appears to be newly built within the last couple of years. There are no mature trees on this property. The entire course is wide open. The property appears to be at a higher elevation than the surrounding neighborhood. With southern Wisconsin known for a robust mosquito population during the summer months, the mosquitos may not be as much of a problem or a problem at all at this course because of the lack of trees and higher elevation of the property.
