Beginner friendly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Free, lots of parking, grass is mowed, good baskets.

Cons:

I didn't see any markers for tee areas, or even worn grass to indicate where others teed off. Hard to figure out the first couple of holes, but I didn't use an app. Pretty wide open, not much rough.

As previously mentioned, hole 9 is between the street and the building, so makes hitting a window a distinct possibility. If cars parked on street, and errant shot could hit them.

Hole 9 is nowhere near hole one, seems like non-golfer laid out the course.

Other Thoughts:

If you live nearby, not a bad place to practice short game, or take beginners. Did I mention free?

Family friendly disc golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 8, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

+ This course is set on the manicured grounds playing around a church. The area is in very great shape and well taken care of. While there aren't many obstacles in the form of trees, there was more elevation change than I was expecting, especially on hole 8's fun little downhill ace run.

+ The baskets are new and catch fantastic.

+ All in all, the course flows pretty well from hole to hole, though hole 9's basket could be closer to hole 1's tee, which could be closer to the parking lot. But that's a little nitpicky.

+ A great place to bring beginners. It's free to play and very straight forward. There's no real risk of losing your disc to water or deep rough (at least when I played in December).

Cons:

- The only disc golf equipment currently out here are the baskets and markers that serve as the tee area. Without having the map pulled up on my phone, I would have been pretty hopeless navigating this place, especially since the markers were missing on a couple holes. An improved tee area, even just a rudimentary hole # indicator, would go a long way to improving playable for a first timer. While unlikely to be installed, cement tees would be fabulous as well.

- Not a tremendous amount of challenge for a more skilled player. I haven't measured, but some holes (7 and 9) felt like they were under 150 feet.

- I felt like a lot of the area by 3-5 wasn't taken advantage of and could have to create a longer hole for advanced players. Then again, the intent of this course was for beginners and church families.

- Hole 9 is short and sweet, but I feel as though beginners would throw a RHBH and it could hit the building, potentially breaking some windows.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, a fun, clean, and free place to introduce players to the game. It achieves it's goal of providing a cheap, family friendly activity to those in the area. I'm always happy to see more disc golf courses pop up!

Bear in mind that the overall rating of this course should definitely be closer to a 2.0 and is massively inflated by two 4.0 reviews early on.

Ok, with potential to get better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The grounds are well mowed, and there are a couple of holes that make good use of the property's slope, but there are also a couple that are just "throw uphill" and "throw downhill". One of the holes uses some new trees to force a dogleg - in 10 years, that will be a nice hole.

Cons:

As of today, the tee area for #7 forces you to throw through some tall grass unless you're tall and throw a tomahawk.

No signage - we'd be lost without the map in the UDisc app.

Other Thoughts:

The course is short enough that it's a good place to take your kids to throw. If you've got a bomber arm, you're going to have to throttle it back a lot, since the longest hole is around 300'.

I realize there's a small sample size, but it's not a 4.0 course despite the prior ratings, especially comparted to Vallarta-Ast at ~3.9. It's a nice little free course, and it's great that the church is opening up their grounds for this, but it needs to get signage and tee pads before it rates any higher scores. With those, I'd score it a 3.
